Marcia Gay Harden Apologizes to Judi Dench After Interview Comment Goes Viral

Marcia Gay Harden is speaking out with an apology for legendary actress Judi Dench after a comment she made in a recent interview was misinterpreted by the media.

The Oscar winner was asked about what it felt like to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress back in 2001. The other nominees in the category that year were Judi for Chocolat, Kate Hudson for Almost Famous, Frances McDormand for Almost Famous, and Julie Walters for Billy Elliot.

“It just felt great. And by the way, I felt the girls were really happy for me as well. There was one I will not mention — but it wasn’t Kate — who seemingly wasn’t so happy,” Marcia told Vulture. She eventually ruled out Frances and Julie, leaving everyone to believe the person who wasn’t happy was Judi.

Marcia is now speaking out about the comments she made.

Judi Dench is Determined to Continue Acting Despite Her Deteriorating Eyesight

Dame Judi Dench has no plans on slowing down.

While participating in an online event for the Vision Foundation, the 86-year-old Oscar winner opened up about her determination to continue acting despite her deteriorating eyesight.

“You find a way of just getting about and getting over the things that you find very difficult,” Judi said via The Guardian. “I’ve had to find another way of learning lines and things, which is having great friends of mine repeat them to me over and over and over again. So I have to learn through repetition, and I just hope that people won’t notice too much if all the lines are completely hopeless!”

Judi also said that losing her eyesight has provided her with some funny acting moments.

“I was doing the ‘Winter’s Tale’ with Kenneth Branagh a couple of years ago, playing Paulina,” Judi recalled. “And after we had been running for three weeks or so at the Garrick he said to me — I have a long speech at the end — he said: ‘Judi, if you were to say that speech about eight feet to your right, you’d be saying it to me and not to the pros.’ I rely on people to tell me!”

Despite losing her eyesight, Judi is trying to look at things with a positive mindset.

“It does enable you to do one thing and that is that you have to get very close to people before you can recognize who they are,” Judi shared. “During lockdown, I made a film and I was up close addressing people wearing masks during rehearsals, nothing to do with any scene I’m in. It’s kind of exquisite if you can do that and that’s the good side of it, and you have to look at that side of it.”

The condition of Judi‘s sight hasn’t stopped her from finding work. She recently booked a role in a biopic about one of her former co-stars!

Judi revealed that she was able to work during the pandemic.

“I was going to film something which has been postponed. I was, during this time, able to film with Kenneth Branagh, who wrote and directed a film about his childhood in Belfast,” she said.

She added, “Everybody wore masks and everything. So we were well looked after. It was a huge relief to do something and it was exciting too at that time. Otherwise you wake up and think: ‘What is the thing I will do today’ and try to get something done.”

Here’s a list of all the celebrities who have received the vaccine so far.

Judi Dench Says She Once Gave Her Pet Goldfish Mouth-to-Mouth

Judi Dench will do anything for her pets.

During an episode of How to Wow podcast, the 85-year-old Oscar-winning actress revealed that she once gave her pet goldfish mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in order to save its life.

“This is the first time in my life I haven’t got a cat, a dog, and my goldfish died,” Judi said. “It’s a very sad story.”

“I gave it the kiss of life. It died when it was a very, very little goldfish,” Judi added, noting that the goldfish ended up surviving and grew to be “about six inches long.”

This isn’t the first time Judi has talked about her heroic move to save her goldfish.

During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show back in 2012, Judi said she “gave the breath of life to when he was dying.”

As for how she knew the goldfish was in trouble, she said she saw him floating upside down at the top of the tank.

“I blew in his mouth,” Judi explained. “I know I shouldn’t have done because he’s got gills.”

Judi Dench Is Concerned That Theaters Won't Reopen in Her Lifetime

Judi Dench has revealed something that concerns her about the coronavirus pandemic and it will definitely give you some perspective on how long we might be in quarantine.

The 85-year-old actress got her start on the stage and she’s concerned that theaters won’t be able to open in her lifetime.

“When you hear that The Old Vic is in trouble, when you hear that the Nuffield in Southampton is in trouble, and Leicester and Nottingham… This is what we rely on and it’s a desperate feeling,” Judi told Channel 4 News. “And when will they ever open again? I don’t know, certainly, I’m sure, not in my lifetime. I don’t know, I can’t see how it’s going to recover.”

“It’s not as if we don’t bring a great deal of money to the economy because I think, last year alone, we brought in 1.3 billion into the economy. So, it is necessary,” she added. “Of course there are lots of other necessary things. I’m not saying that it should be more prioritized than anything else, but it just is going to be a very serious effect on all of us.”

Judi hopes that the government in the UK will intervene to help the theater community.

“If the theaters now close and become dark, I don’t know when we’re going to get them back,” she said. “We do need a big injection. You can’t run a theater with people sitting six seats apart. You can’t run a theater when it is a quarter full.”

During the lockdown, Judi has become a TikTok star thanks to her grandson and you’ve gotta see the videos.
