Ruston Kelly is sending his love to ex-wife Kacey Musgraves on her birthday.

The 32-year-old singer/songwriter took to his Instagram Story on Friday (August 21) to wish the Grammy winner a happy 32nd birthday.

“Anyone who knows your heart, your kindness, your humor and compassion…are made better people by it,” Ruston wrote along with a black-and-white photo of Kacey. “I got your back. Happy birthday @spaceykacey.”

Just a few weeks ago, Kacey shared a sweet message for Ruston on his birthday.

Kacey and Ruston announced back in early July that they were splitting up after two years of marriage.

Despite their separation, the two have remained close friends. Kacey recently revealed what she thought of her estranged husband’s new song and she had some really positive things to say.

Kacey Musgraves may have recently split from her husband Ruston Kelly, but they are clearly still close friends.

The 31-year-old Grammy-winning singer took to her Instagram Stories on Friday (July 31) to celebrate Ruston‘s 32nd birthday.

Kacey posted a black and white photo of Ruston looking out of a window and she wrote, “Hope you know how lucky the world is to have you in it, Ruston. Happy birthday! I’m in your corner.”

Earlier this month, Kacey and Ruston released a joint statement to announce their breakup.

In Instagram comments left recently, Kacey revealed what she thought of her estranged husband’s new song and she had some really positive things to say.

Kacey is rumored to have landed an exciting role in an upcoming Disney musical movie.

Rumors are swirling that Kacey Musgraves has been in talks to play a role in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid!

The news has not yet been confirmed by Disney or Kacey‘s reps, but a report claims that the Grammy winner is in talks to play Vanessa, the human form of the villain Ursula.

TheDisInsider reports that Kacey has had meetings with Disney about the project, though they say there’s a chance she could have passed on the role. Nothing has been confirmed at this point so it should be noted that this is NOT official news.

Halle Bailey will be playing Ariel and Melissa McCarthy is taking on the role of Ursula. Filming is expected to begin later this summer in London and Oscar winner Rob Marshall is directing.

Kacey previously worked with Disney on the soundtrack for Frozen 2. She performed a cover of the song “All Is Found.”

Last week, Kacey announced some very personal news about her marriage.

Kacey Musgraves has nothing but good things to say about Ruston Kelly‘s new music.

The estranged couple, who announced they were splitting up earlier this month, are very supportive of the others’ music.

After releasing his new single “Pressure”, Kacey revealed how she felt about the track.

“Such an exquisite song,” Kacey wrote as an Instagram comment on Ruston‘s post.

She added, “Quite possibly my favorite.”

Ruston responded to her, sharing that she was the one who “convinced me to put it on the record don’t forget.”

Kacey and Ruston announced their break up to their fans after sparking speculation of it earlier in the year.

“We’ve made this painful decision together,” they announced. “With heavy but hopeful hearts we wanted to put our own thoughts into the air about what’s happening. These kinds of announcements are always met with scrutiny and speculation and we want to stop that before it even starts.”

The 31-year-old Golden Hour singer and the 31-year-old singer-songwriter have parted ways, their reps confirmed to People on Friday (July 3).

“We’ve made this painful decision together. With heavy but hopeful hearts we wanted to put our own thoughts into the air about what’s happening. These kinds of announcements are always met with scrutiny and speculation and we want to stop that before it even starts,” the statement reads.

“We believe that we were put into each other’s lives for a divine reason and have both changed each other infinitely for the better. The love we have for each other goes far beyond the relationship we’ve shared as husband and wife. It’s a soul connection that can never be erased,” they continued.

“We’ve made this painful decision together — a healthy decision that comes after a very long period of trying the best we can. It simply just didn’t work. Though we are parting ways in marriage, we will remain true friends for the rest of our lives. We hold no blame, anger, or contempt for each other and we ask for privacy and positive wishes for us both as we learn how to navigate through this.”

The two first met in 2016 while attending a songwriter showcase at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, Tenn. They married back in October of 2017.

Kacey Musgraves has released a statement on the nationwide Black Lives Matter protests that are taking place after the tragic death of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer.

“It’s been hard to find the words to adequately convey how outraged and sad I am. WHITE PEOPLE HAVE HAD IT SO F*CKING WRONG SINCE THE BEGINNING and I will do whatever I can I help break the DISGUSTING, damaging cycle racism and systemic privilege causes. I will not be a bystander,” Kacey posted on her Twitter account.
