Lil Peep 'Belgium' Video Premieres With Heartfelt Note From Director Mezzy - Watch Now

The video for the late Lil Peep‘s “Belgium” is here.

The posthumous visual from the rapper, who tragically died at the age of 21 in 2017, debuted on Tuesday (November 12).

Director Mezzy shared a heartfelt message along with the video.

“‘Belgium’ is a very special track for me. Artists lives are chaotic and wrought with pressure from all sides, but that day in Ghent, Belgium was one of the only times I had where I can say that I truly got to know Gus. On the flight in, I interviewed him and he spoke about how the gothic architecture of the town was very calming to him. Later, on our way to soundcheck we passed by this amazing castle, and we were both immediately struck by it. We wanted to wander inside, but it was closed,” Mezzy wrote.

“I suggested we go back the next day, so we woke up early to go see it, but yet again, it was closed. So we loitered around town and smoked by the castle until everyone else joined us at McDonalds. In that time we really just talked, and connected. We fed ducks with an old man who seemed to ignore us, probably because of Gus‘ look. Gus said he was used to that treatment, but the ‘ducks don’t mind’ that really stuck with me. The next time I saw him, at his final tour stop back in la. He met my girlfriend Syd. He came up to us with that huge smile you see in the next slide. He immediately said to me, ‘the ducks don’t mind’ and laughed. I introduced him to Syd, he said ‘I know you, you guys have been together forever, 10 years right?’ and she laughed.”

“I was never able to ask him why he named the song after Belgium, but sitting her thinking about it now, I don’t think I had to because it was very special to me and clearly special to him- and that is all that matters.”

Lil Peep: 'Goth Angel Sinner' EP Stream & Download - Listen!

Lil Peep‘s posthumous release, Goth Angel Sinner, is out now.

The musician, who tragically died at the age of 21 in 2017, is being honored with this release on his favorite holiday, Halloween, on Thursday (October 31).

He originally announced the release, produced by Fish Narc, in October of 2017 via Twitter.

Peep and I shot ‘When I Lie’ while on the Come Over When You’re Sober Tour. We were in Hamburg, Germany getting ready to do a show. It was a spur of the moment video. As soon as someone from the venue led us down to the green room, Peep and I looked at each other and said we have to shoot a video here. It didn’t take long to decide what track to shoot as he had been playing ‘When I Lie’ on repeat most of the journey there. We decided to shoot a one take video as we had shot ‘4 gold chains’ as a one take in London and loved the way it came out,” said collaborator Rayn.

This is the second time Peep and iLoveMakonnen teamed up together, following their collaboration “Sunlight on Your Skin” released in September of 2018.

“My relationship with Lil Peep was one of a kind. We were two like-minded artists collaborating to make a new style of music that the world has not heard before. It was a pleasure to work with him and his loss has been devastating. I hope that the music helps bring closure and happiness. All the songs that Peep and I have worked on are special to me. I knew adding his heroes Fall Out Boy to ‘I’ve Been Waiting,’ would be a tribute to my friend and collaborator that I could feel proud of. When I called Pete he immediately said yes, and it came together very quickly. I’m really excited to share this with the fans,” said iLoveMakonnen.

Lil Peep‘s mother is honoring the musical legacy of her late son, the rising rap star who tragically died in November at the young age of 21.

Liza Womack, Peep‘s mom, released the music video for “Save That S–t” on Wednesday (December 20).

“It’s been a hard time for all of us who loved Gus and we are going through the process of coming to terms with our loss. So today, we are starting that process by releasing the video for ‘Save That S–t,’” she said in a statement.

The video was directed by Peep‘s close friends and collaborators Mezzy and Heavyrayn.

“The ultimate goal here to me is to do anything that we can to spread Gus‘ music and to color inside of the lines he created through his art,” said Mezzy.
