Lil Wayne is speaking out about his recent pardoning by former President Donald Trump.
It was revealed on Wednesday (January 20) that the 38-year old rapper was among the 143 people Trump granted sentence commutations or pardons to before his time in office ended.
Lil Wayne referenced the 2019 federal weapons charges he had been pardoned for in a new song released the same night, “Ain’t Got Time”.
He raps, ““The feds, they hot on us, 100 on the thermometer / They raided my private plane, got one that’s more privater.” Later in the song he adds, “FBI arrest me, why?”
Lil Wayne faced up to 10 years in federal prison after he was found in possession of a gold-plated handgun on a private plane.
Lil Wayne also thanked Trump on Twitter. The rapper wrote, “I want to thank President Trump for recognizing I have so much more to give to my family, my art, and my community.”
He also took the time to thank his attorney, Bradford Cohen. “I also want to take the time to thank @bradleycohen,” he added, “for working so diligently to secure another chance for me.”
