The Simon McQuoid-directed New Line Cinema movie, inspired by the smash hit video game franchise, is hitting theaters nationwide on April 16, and will be available in the U.S. on HBO Max for 31 days from theatrical release.
Here’s a plot summary: “MMA fighter Cole Young, accustomed to taking a beating for money, is unaware of his heritage—or why Outworld’s Emperor Shang Tsung has sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, an otherworldly Cryomancer, to hunt Cole down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade at the direction of Jax, a Special Forces Major who bears the same strange dragon marking Cole was born with. Soon, he finds himself at the temple of Lord Raiden, an Elder God and the protector of Earthrealm, who grants sanctuary to those who bear the mark. Ludi Lin, who recently starred as the Black Ranger in the new Power Rangers reboot, has joined the cast of Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman.
The Chinese actor is set to portray the role of Murk in the movie! If you didn’t know, Murk is the leader of the army in Atlantis, as well as Aquaman’s trusted ally, Deadline reports. Jason is playing the role of Aquaman in the 2018 movie.
Later on, the cast headed to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for a special screening of their new film and met with teen patients at CHLA’s Teen Lounge, where they also dropped off posters and action figures from the flick.
Pink Ranger Naomi even made one patient an honorary ranger, by drawing another ranger figure on back of one of the posters.
