Jeffree Star is reacting to backlash.
The 34-year-old Jeffree Star Cosmetics mogul posted a video on Wednesday (May 20) addressing criticism he received for releasing an eyeshadow palette called Cremated, which some felt was insensitive amid the pandemic.

In the video, Jeffree addressed the makeup developing process and his intention.
“It takes months and months, sometimes a year plus, to make a product. There were some people saying ‘Jeffree, it’s a little weird timing, there’s a lot going on in the world’…for me, this is art, and I never come from a negative place, you guys,” he explained.
“My own father who passed away, and my two dogs who passed away last year were cremated, and it is a tradition in my family. Nothing ever comes from a bad place. If you were thinking that, absolutely not…in no way was this created to be offensive ever,” he went on to say.
He also discussed scheduling, and how he already pushed back the palette by over a month.
“This year is full, which you’ll see later this year…I couldn’t put Cremated anywhere else, and I never want to give my customers a bad experience…I want to end by saying I’m never discredit anyone’s feelings and interpret things how they do. Just know that I only come from a good place.”
