Jessica Simpson is speaking out about the comments made about her by Vogue editor Sally Singer.

Sally wrote that at the 2007 Met Gala, which Jessica attended with John Mayer, “her breasts maybe fell out of her dress on the red carpet … and then at dinner it was suddenly like, whoa, Jessica Simpson’s breasts are across from me at the dinner table and they are on a platter and I’m looking at them.”

Sally added that John “was putting his hands on them at the dinner table. He kind of reached down and I just remember thinking, ‘Oh, celebrities, feel free to play here. That’s what’s going on.’”

Jessica spoke out about the comments on her Instagram, along with a vintage picture of Sophia Loren and Jayne Mansfield.

“Feeling a little like Jayne Mansfield after reading this (inaccurate!) oral history of the #MetBall where I am body shamed by #SallySinger,” Jessica wrote.

She added, “But in all seriousness I have persevered through shaming my own body and internalizing the world’s opinions about it for my entire adult life. To read this much anticipated article about the classiest fashion event there is and have to be shamed by another woman for having boobs in 2020 is nauseating.”

Vogue has since apologized to Jessica in a statement (via ET): “We are sorry that Jessica felt body-shamed by the anecdote in our Met piece. That was never our intent, but we understand her reaction and we apologize for including it.”

Kylie Jenner revealed a fun fact about her 2018 Met Gala look and the zipper that was showing on the side of her outfit as she walked the carpet with her boyfriend at the time, Travis Scott.

The 22-year-old makeup mogul posted a photo of her look on Instagram and wrote the caption, “fun fact: this dress wasn’t supposed to have a zipper but it ripped as I was squeezing into it o we added it on the way out the door…but it worked out I loved it.”

Katy Perry was planning on attending the 2020 Met Gala and she has shared the look that she was going to wear to the annual event.

The 35-year-old singer, who is pregnant with her first child, was planning on wearing a design by Jean Paul Gaultier and it was going to pay homage to his iconic cone bra.

Gaultier created the cone bra in 1983 and the design that he made for Madonna‘s Blonde Ambition tour in 1990 became one of her most well-known looks.

“what would have been… #TheMetBall2020💔,” Katy captioned the photo on Instagram with a broken heart emoji.

The theme of this year’s gala was going to be “About Time: Fashion and Duration.”

Even though she couldn’t dress up for the Met Gala red carpet, Katy has still been having fun with fashion for the weekly American Idol episodes, which have been filmed at home.

Either someone tipped Blake Lively off about the color of the Met Gala carpet for all of these years or she’s just had some very good luck!

The 32-year-old former Gossip Girl actress took to Instagram on Monday (May 4), the day the Met Gala would have happened this year, to show how she matched the carpet in 2016, 2017, and 2018.

“…when the carpet matches the Blakes. Met Ball 2018, 2017, 2016,” Blake wrote on Instagram with photos from each event.

In 2018, Blake attended the event in a Versace dress that matched the maroon elements on the carpet. She wore an Atelier Versace dress in 2017 and that dress’ blue train matched the blue on the carpet. In 2016, she wore a pink Burberry gown that matched the pink carpet.

“How far in advance do you have to tell Anna what color to make the carpet?” Blake‘s friend Gigi Hadid commented on the Instagram post.

Today is the first Monday in May and the 2020 Met Gala should’ve been happening, but sadly it has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. So, we’re taking a look back at last year’s event.

Lots of couples took over the red carpet at the 2019 Met Gala and here’s a recap of all the big moments from the carpet.

The event marked the first time that longtime private couple Katie Holmes and Jamie Foxx posed for photos together at a major event… and now they’re no longer together.

We also had the first red carpet appearance for Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner as a newly married couple. Newly confirmed couple at the time, Elle Fanning and her Teen Spirit director Max Minghella, were also among the many stars in attendance.

There were over 30 celeb couples on the carpet this year.

Since the 2020 Met Gala is no longer taking place, we’re taking a look back at previous years’ content!

It’s no secret that a social media ban is in place at the Met Gala every year, but it’s always expected that lots of celebs will still share photos anyways… and many stars broke the rule in 2019.

Vogue‘s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour instated a ban on selfies and social media in 2015 and while no official reason was ever given, it’s believed that it has to do with security of guests and to make sure everyone lives in the moment.

Alex Rodriguez is one of the stars who posted selfies on social media, all with his fiancee Jennifer Lopez. They also posed with other stars like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Some of the other stars who snapped photos and shared them online included Joe Jonas, Riverdale‘s Lili Reinhart and Madelaine Petsch, rising singer Lizzo, Crazy Rich Asians‘ Henry Golding, event co-chair Serena Williams, Kylie Jenner, Rita Ora, Laura Harrier, The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah, and director Ava DuVernay.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen honored their long standing date for the Met Gala with a little stoop visit on Monday (May 4).

The longtime friends reunited, while maintaining social distancing, to honor the day that would’ve been the 2020 Met Gala.

“We’re ready! #MetGala,” Andy captioned the pic on his Instagram, showing off that they both were also wearing masks to comply with the CDC guidelines about coronavirus.
