Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas became engaged after dating for only two months, and now, she’s revealing what she thought about his quick proposal.

“I didn’t expect the proposal at that point… It was two months! I thought it would happen, but it was still a complete shock,” the 38-year-old actress told Elle UK.

She continued, “[But] I relinquished control and I just went with it. We were just sporadically meeting for about two years. We were texting and stuff, and there may have been a part of me that wanted something serious. But I was taking a hiatus from guys at that point. I didn’t want anyone romantically. But there’s always been something about Nick, which is why we always ended up staying in touch, no matter where we were. One thing to know about my husband is that when he makes up his mind, he’ll get what he wants! When he knows, he knows. There’s such a sublime confidence to it that you can’t help but be like, “OK.”’

After their quick engagement and getting married in late 2018, Priyanka and Nick have received a lot of comments about their relationship, both positive and negative. She reacted to those comments in a new statement recently.

In an interview released Thursday (January 29) to promote her new film The White Tiger and upcoming memoir Unfinished, Priyanka opened up about moving to Missouri from India, meeting Larry Bird and her craziest fashion moments – all while eating some incredibly spicy wings.

While the 38-year-old Quantico star had previously tried some of Hot Ones notoriously spicy sauces during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, she still struggled to make it through all ten wings.

She even told host Sean Evans that the “Da Bomb Insanity” sauce, which is famously one of the most challenging, looked “like poison.”

Priyanka Chopra is sharing some interesting insight into her life and career in a brand new interview!

The 38-year-old actress, who stars in the new Netflix movie The White Tiger, participated in the new episode of Variety‘s Awards Circuit podcast. Here’s what she had to share:

On husband Nick Jonas: “He just doesn’t do anything badly. It’s insane and it drives me crazy. It’s like everything you do is great… He was like, ‘You may be the first Jonas to win an Oscar.’”

On her role in Matrix 4: “I can’t talk about that! … I can say I finished filming and it was the first movie I did after quarantine and lockdown and I’ve never felt safer on a set. It was so well done and so well handled. At the same, the ability to have a creative experience while being on set, it was such a wonderful experience really.”

On accidentally getting into acting: “I didn’t know I could be an actor. I didn’t know that was a professional choice that could be made. I come from a very academic family. My parents are both physicians so I was expected to go into academics. I was smart. I wanted to be an engineer… Then the entertainment business sort of happened to me by fluke. I was part of a beauty pageant and I won Miss World at 2000 and I started getting movie offers back in India. I didn’t know what it was all about so my acting school was on set. I learned everything that I did by being thrown into the deep end and I suddenly realized that I was really good at it.”

“I may look chill on the outside here, but little did everyone know I had just been freaking out on the inside. 😂 The delicate zipper to this vintage @roberto_cavalli dress broke as they were zipping it up minutes before I had to leave for the red carpet at Cannes last year. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have been subject to some comments and articles over the years about their relationship, particularly the 10 year age difference between them.

The 38-year-old actress revealed that she does read some of the comments about her and her 28-year-old husband. She told Marie Claire, “I am just like everyone else. In the morning when I’m driving to work or I’m having my coffee, I’m flipping through Twitter, Instagram, the news, and when my name pops up, I’m like, Alright, what are people saying? How are we feeling? I just don’t react to it or let it affect my mental well-being.”

If you don’t remember, back in 2018, an opinion article was published asked if Nick and Priyanka‘s relationship was fake. Priyanka reacted to the article a few months later. Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner both called out the article and the writer of the piece.

She also spoke about her big famous family and spending time together. “We never get to meet [Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner and family] as often as the world thinks we do, but whenever we end up together, it’s a huge-ass party. It’s all our parents, the girls and the boys…Both of our schedules are so crazy individually that there was no world in which we would have ever had six months together. It only took a global pandemic for that to happen.”

Priyanka Chopra is revealing more about her relationship with husband Nick Jonas in a slew of interviews this week, as she promotes her new Netflix film, White Tiger.

Speaking with People, the 38-year-old actress said that she was quite shocked when they first started dating because of his boldness.

“I was shocked by his audaciousness, actually. He held my hand, he turned me around. I was like, ‘What is happening?’ He was bold, confident, self-assured,” she recalled. “And that was the most attractive thing about Nick and still is for me.”

She adds, “I was so taken in. Our courtship was such a short time. I just rode the wave because I trusted him. I’m someone who likes to have a sense of control, but he’s the only one I don’t feel like I need to do that with. I feel protected, calm.”

“Nick always says this to me: ‘I’ll always be in your corner.’ He said that to me very early. It was before we got married. I think at some point we were disagreeing about something, and he was like, ‘I’m always in your corner. We’re not on different sides of the room,’” Priyanka continued about the foundations of their relationship. “And it just changed the way I was talking to him. It became the greatest thing I feel about this partnership, and what makes me feel so confident in being able to do all the things I want to do.”

During her most recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Priyanka admitted that their marriage has actually flourished during quarantine rather than fall apart, like some others have.

“It’s great because we still like each other. That’s important,” she shared. “We both have had such individual careers that I don’t think we would’ve had six months with each other ever, so that’s really a blessing. I was really happy to be able to have that time with each other.”

Just recently, Priyanka got candid about her experience with bullying in school.
