Priyanka Chopra is opening up about a tough time in her past.

The actress, who spoke about her life in upcoming memoir Unfinished out on February 9, detailed her experience of being Indian while attending an American high school as a teenager.

She reveals in the book that she left the United States and returned to India for school because of the bullying.

“I took it very personally. Deep inside, it starts gnawing at you,” she told People.

“I went into a shell. I was like, ‘Don’t look at me. I just want to be invisible.’ My confidence was stripped. I’ve always considered myself a confident person, but I was very unsure of where I stood, of who I was,” she went on to say.

She explained in the book that girls in school would say things like “Brownie, go back to your country!” and “Go back on the elephant you came on” as she walked down the hall. She said she even reached out to a guidance counselor for help, but it didn’t work.

“I don’t even blame the city, honestly. I just think it was girls who, at that age, just want to say something that’ll hurt. Now, at the other side of 35, I can say that it probably comes from a place of them being insecure. But at that time, I took it very personally,” she revealed.

She said she “broke up with America” at that point, and decided to go home.

“I was so blessed that when I went back to India, I was surrounded by so much love and admiration for who I was. Going back to India healed me after that experience in high school.”

“Insecurity becomes small as soon as you talk about it with someone you trust: A therapist, a counselor. I feel like a lot of people spend their time when they’re feeling dark [in isolation]. That’s the worst thing to do, is to feel sad alone. Sadness is very seductive. It sucks you in and you want to just wallow in it because it feels comfortable and warm — and light is harsh sometimes. [But] you have to look at it, you squint. [The light is] a lot, but it gives you life. It gives you joy. We have the choice, most of the time, to step out of the darkness ourselves. The best way I’ve found of doing it is talking to people who care,” she went on to say.

Initially, the 38-year-old actress said she wants “a cricket team.” Now, if you don’t know, a cricket team has 11 people, meaning she said she wants 11 children!

She then, rethinking the idea that 11 might be too many, said, “A cricket team? I’m not so sure,” but added to the Sunday Times, “I do want children, as many as I can have.”

Nick himself previously had just a four word response when he was once asked about having kids with Priyanka one day.

Priyanka Chopra is starring in the upcoming movie The White Tiger and the official trailer was just released!

The movie will debut on Netflix on January 22 and it will be released in select theaters earlier that month.

Director Robert Rodriguez hopes that this movie will be the Sharkboy and Lavagirl for a new generation.

“A lot of families have spent a lot of time together,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I’ve been getting calls from all kinds of studios: ‘Reboot Spy Kids.’ ‘Reboot Sharkboy.’ Of course they want to. They’re all sitting at home with their kids.”

We Can Be Heroes will be out on January 1, 2021.

Here’s something you might not know about Priyanka Chopra: she won the Miss World competition in 2000 when she was only 18!

The actress, now 38, just opened up in a new interview about how she avoided a wardrobe malfunction after being crowned the winner of the competition nearly 20 years ago.

“The year 2000 and I won Miss World, my dress was taped on to me. By the time I won at the end I was sweating so much ’cause it was so stressful that the entire tape came off,” Priyanka said on People in 10.

She added, “The whole time while I was doing my walk or whatever when I won, I kept my hands like this in a namaste, which people thought was a namaste but actually was holding my dress up. So uncomfortable!”

Priyanka recently signed on to an exciting movie with some big stars!

Sam Heughan, Priyanka Chopra, and Celine Dion have signed on to star in a new movie together! The romantic drama is currently tentatively titled Text For You.

According to Deadline, the film is “about a woman who, to ease the pain after tragically losing her fiancé, starts to send romantic texts to his old cell. It turns out, the phone number has been reassigned to a man across town suffering from similar heartbreak. The two meet and feel an undeniable connection, but can’t seem to leave the past behind. In this English language remake, the music and influence of Dion gives them the courage to take a chance on love again.”

Celine is obviously a major recording artist and she has not often taken on acting roles so this will be a real treat to see her on the big screen!
