The Good Morning America crew took us back in time for Halloween!

In celebration of Halloween on Thursday morning (October 31), the anchors of the ABC morning show took on a Studio 54-inspired disco theme to celebrate the holiday. The GMA studio was transformed into a sparkling ’70s dance floor, inside their “Studio 44″ nightclub.

Amy Robach and Sara Haines kicked off the dance party dressed as Sonny and Cher, followed by Robin Roberts as Donna Summer, Lara Spencer dazzled as Liza Minnelli, while Michael Strahan, Gio Benitez and Whit Johnson kept the disco going dressed in gold ’70s tracksuits as the Bee Gees.

Ginger Zee rolled in on skates dressed as Olivia Newton-John from Xanadu, Sam Champion arrived dressed as “Y.M.C.A.” hit-makers Village People, George Stephanopoulos played club DJ, spinning the disco tunes for the studio.

Sam Champion, one of the country’s most popular weather anchors, is returning to Disney’s WABC-TV.

The television network announced on Wednesday (May 22) that the 57-year-old anchor will join Eyewitness News as a weather anchor on its weekday morning and noon newscasts.

He will start on June 3 and will continue to contribute to ABC News.

Sam originally served as a weather anchor at WABC between 1988 and 2006. He then moved to ABC News’ Good Morning America and left in 2013 to serve as a managing editor on The Weather Channel.

“It is an extraordinary opportunity to come home and, once again, be a part of the Eyewitness News family,” Sam said. “I have felt the trust and kindness of New York and the tri-state viewers since 1988, and I can’t wait to start our days together again at the No. 1 station in the nation!”

“Sam has a fascination and passion for weather that is absolutely contagious,” added Debra O’Connell, president and general manager of WABC. “I am thrilled to have Sam join our outstanding Eyewitness News team, bringing with him a tremendous track record for accuracy in weather forecasting along with his genuine care for our tri-state area communities and viewers.”

The 43-year-old A Series of Unfortunate Events actor and his actor-chef husband were joined at the lunch by event host Jerry Seinfeld and his wife/President of the GOOD+ Foundation Jessica.

Also in attendance at the event was Nicky Hilton, Michael Strahan, Sam Champion, and Jeff Gordon.

The GOOD+ Foundation hosted the event to raise money for fathers in need to help them get the long term support needed to help lift their family out of poverty.

It was recently announced that Sam is set to make a brief return to Good Morning America for a week as he fills in for Ginger Zee, the current GMA meteorologist who is on maternity leave, reports Variety.

“Thanks for helping out @RobMarciano and @SamChampion,” Ginger tweeted. “I’ll be back before y’all know it!”

The 54-year-old former GMA weatherman and his husband, who is a Brazilian born artist, are taking a nice long vacation in his home country for the holidays!

“Taking off for beauutiful [Brazil] tomorrow! Where are u spending the holidays?” Sam wrote on Twitter last week.

Sam is currently launching a long-form primetime interview show at his current job with The Weather Channel!

The 53-year-old weather anchor — best known for his 25 years on Good Morning America — rang in the new year drinking champagne and keeping his arm around his husband Rubem Robierb.

Starting in early 2014, Sam will be starting his new job as the anchor of a new flagship morning show on the Weather Channel.
