Caitriona Balfe Voices Support for Sam Heughan After He Speaks Out Against Bullies

Caitriona Balfe is speaking out in support of Sam Heughan after he released an open letter to fans in which he addressed the bullying he’s been subjected to for six years.

The Outlander actor said that people have been making up false stories about him for years, including right now amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Make sure to read the full open letter that Sam released.

“Sad that Sam has had to come out and say all this. I would have thought mean bitchy behaviour would have been left in the school yard. But unfortunately a VERY SMALL but very vocal part of this fandom use their energy to write and say awful untrue things … maybe they should harness all that energy to get involved in their local charities,” Caitriona wrote on Twitter in response to the story.

She added, “And honestly it’s quite simple … If you don’t like us .. it’s a big beautiful world out there. Find something you do love and enjoy that. Life as it’s all too clear right now is short. Why waste it hating.”

Sam Heughan Slams Online Bullies for Six Years of False Stories, Harassment, & More

Sam Heughan is speaking out in response to six years of the “constant bullying, harassment, stalking and false narrative” he has been subjected to at the hands of online bullies.

The 39-year-old Outlander actor is fed up with the false stories that have been made up about him and while he had hoped the bullies would “just go away,” he’s decided it’s time to address the harassment.

“Recently, these false claims vary from me manipulating fans, being a closet-homosexual, trying to mislead or exhort fans for money and disregarding Covid advice. I’ve done non of the above,” Sam said in a statement posted to Twitter.

Sam explained that he’s currently self-isolating in Hawaii as he was there before the travel ban and he’s too nervous to fly back home to the UK with everything going on, especially since he was recently sick for three months.

“These bullies have created a false narrative, shared private information and abused my loved ones and I, consistently for the last six years on blogs and SM. I will not entertain it anymore and am blocking anyone that writes anything defamatory or abusive. Sending items or stalking my private accommodation, they have harassed my work colleagues and constantly tried to hack our email and personal accounts. I’m so hurt by this,” Sam said.

'Outlander' Author Criticizes Sex Scene From Latest Episode: 'Bad Dialogue, Bad Direction, Bad Lighting'

The latest episode of Outlander featured a sex scene between Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) that was not well received by some fans, as well as the author of the original books, Diana Gabaldon.

The scene was a love scene in a stable and the author responded to a fan who seemed unhappy with the scene.

Diana responded, “Bad dialogue, bad direction, bad lighting, awkward set. Actors did their level best with what they were given to work with.”

She also clarified, “I thought the acting was really good–and both the earlier leadup to and the reconciliation after were both very good; the dialogue leading up to the actual sex and the staging of said sex left something to be desired.”

Then, when fans wondered if Diana hated the entire episode, she clarified she did not, she just did not enjoy that one, 45-second scene!

“Would y’all pay attention? (not meaning just you personally) I was referring explicitly to one 45-second scene, NOT the episode,” she added.

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe have amazing chemistry and they recently spoke about it!
