Colin Jost Reveals What He Thought of Scarlett Johansson When They First Met in 2006

Colin Jost wrote a book, “A Very Punchable Face: A Memoir,” and spoke about the first time he met his future fiancee Scarlett Johansson back in 2006, which was his first year writing for Saturday Night Live.

“I got eight sketches on the show my first year, including one cold open and a parody of MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen, starring first-time host Scarlett Johansson,” he wrote (via E! News). “She has just turned 20 and I was 23, but in terms of status and maturing she was here [holds hand above head] and I was here [ holds hand one inch off ground]. She claims that she remembers thinking I was ‘cute,’ but I know what I looked like and that’s not the word I would have used. (‘Shaggy’ would have been generous. ‘Slovenly,’ more accurate).”

He said she had “a grace and a smile that I’ve still never seen in any other human.”

He doesn’t remember too much about the sketch she performed that he wrote, but did say, “The only line I remember from the sketch is when Scarlett’s bratty character says, ‘This party is literally worse than the Holocaust.’ That was my Shakespearean sonnet for the woman I would one day fall in love with.”

And he’d love to one day have kids!

Colin wrote, “I’ve even woken up on a Sunday after a show and thought, ‘I would love to be raising a baby right now!’ Which is a far cry from when I used to wake up on a Sunday and think, ‘Can I make it to the bathroom, or should I just puke on this plant?’”

Colin Jost Blames Scarlett Johansson For That Viral Guitar Moment on 'SNL'

Colin Jost is finally explaining that viral moment from one of Saturday Night Live‘s virtual shows, which had a guitar perfectly framed in the background of his shot.

At the time, Colin posted on his Instagram account about it, writing, “My favorite observation from last episode, even among my fellow cast members, was: ‘Great job including the guitar, douchebag.’ This might sound incomprehensible but I did not know it was on the couch, let alone perfectly framed behind me. I have never, nor do I pretend to play, the guitar. Nor do I physically understand how it works.”

Now, Colin is actually explaining that the guitar belongs to his fiancee, Scarlett Johansson!

“Scarlett had that guitar forever and it was in the quarantine,” Colin told the New York Times interview. “She was like, ‘Maybe I should learn how to play,’ and just left it on the couch. It was so perfectly framed there and then everyone pointed it out and I was like, ‘How can I be so dumb?’ I had no awareness of it at all.”

A couple months ago, there was actually some news about Colin‘s future with SNL.

Scarlett Johansson's Marvel Baton Being Handed To Florence Pugh in 'Black Widow'

The Black Widow baton is being handed over from Scarlett Johansson to Florence Pugh.

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, director Cate Shortland opened up about how the upcoming Marvel movie will serve as a baton passing, of sorts between Natasha and Florence‘s Yelena.

“[Kevin Feige] realized that the audience would expect an origin story so, of course, we went in the opposite direction,” she shared. “We didn’t know how great Florence Pugh would be. We knew she would be great, but we didn’t know how great.”

Cate added, “Scarlett is so gracious, like, ‘Oh, I’m handing her the baton.’ So it’s going to propel another female storyline.”

The director also opened up about how Black Widow will also be a proper goodbye to Natasha Romanoff, as fans weren’t exactly happy with how the character left in Avengers: Endgame.

“In Endgame, the fans were upset that Natasha did not have a funeral. Whereas Scarlett, when I spoke to her about it, said Natasha wouldn’t have wanted a funeral,” Cate said. “She’s too private, and anyway, people don’t really know who she is.”

“So what we did in this film was allow the ending to be the grief the individuals felt, rather than a big public outpouring. I think that’s a fitting ending for her.”

Black Widow is expected to open in theaters on November 6th.

Scarlett Johansson Reflects on Not Getting Roles: 'I've Basically Made a Career Out of Being Second Choice'

Scarlett Johansson is on the cover of the latest issue of Parade, out now.

Here’s what the 35-year-old Avengers actress had to say…

On motherhood in Manhattan, where she grew up: “One of the great privileges of raising your kids where you grew up is that you get to do the stuff and see the things you did when you were a kid.”

On losing on several roles, including, at first, the part of Black Widow to Emily Blunt: “Since a very young age, I’ve been rejected constantly…the best call you can receive is after you are rejected for something and then you get it. You appreciate it more. I’ve basically made a career out of being second choice.”

On fiance Colin Jost: “What you see is what you get with him. He’s very optimistic, easygoing, funny, nice, and those are the qualities that really drew me to him.”

On a potential wedding date: “‘No comment,’ she says with a laugh. But she has called him ‘the love of my life.’”

Hugh Jackman & Ryan Reynolds' Famous Feud Began Because of Scarlett Johansson

Hugh Jackman is revealing the origin of his epic years-long (fake) feud Ryan Reynolds…and it all started because of Ryan‘s ex wife Scarlett Johansson!

“How did it start? It’s gone back so long now… God, this is a classic sign where your feud has gone too long, where you don’t even know why or how it started!” Hugh told DailyBeast.

Hugh added, “I met him back on Wolverine, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett [Johansson], and Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I’m watching, and we started ribbing each other that way, and then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and him calling me out, and trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted.”
