Novak, who is ranked No. 1 in the world, beat Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the men’s singles finals at Rod Laver Arena.

This is also his ninth Australian Open title and 18th Grand Slam title. He is now just behind the all-time record of 20 Grand Slam wins held by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

“Everyone has their own journey and their own way of making history, and they’ve made history already. I’m trying to build that and develop that myself in a very unique authentic way that is suitable to me. Whether I think about winning more slams and breaking records, of course I do. Most of my attention and energy from this day forward until I retire from tennis is going to be directed in majors and trying to win more major trophies,” he said after the game.

He also made headlines for doing something in a fit of rage days before.

Naomi Osaka Wins Australian Open, Shares Funny Moment with Jennifer Brady in Post-Win Speech

Naomi Osaka is a champion again!

The 23-year-old tennis player won the women’s singles final of the 2021 Australian Open on Saturday (February 20) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia.

Naomi, who is from Japan, defeated American player Jennifer Brady in straight sets, 6-4 and 6-3.

During her post-win speech, Naomi had an awkward moment with Jennifer when she asked her opponent what she likes to be called.

“Firstly, I want to congratulate… Do you like to be called Jenny or Jennifer?” she said while turning to her opponent. Even though she clearly responded with “Jenny,” Naomi continued by saying the opposite.

“Firstly, I want to congratulate Jennifer. We played in the semis of the US Open, so a couple of months ago I told everyone that would listen that you’re going to be a problem. And I was right,” Naomi said.

Andy Murray has advised that he has tested positive to COVID-19 and is isolating at home in the UK. Unfortunately this means he will be unable to join the official AO charter flights arriving in Australia in the coming days to go through the quarantine period with the other players,” the organization confirmed in a statement on social media.

“The AO fans love Andy, and we know how much he loves competing here in Melbourne and how hard he’d worked for this opportunity.”

The Australian Open previously confirmed a three-week delay from the middle of January to early February and is now set to begin on February 8.

All of these stars also tested positive for coronavirus.
