Patty Jenkins Opens Up About Almost Walking Away From 'Wonder Woman 1984' For This Reason

Patty Jenkins is opening up about how she almost walked away from directing Wonder Woman 1984.

During her appearance on MTV’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, the -year-old director opened up about how she nearly walked off the set over a pay dispute where she wasn’t being paid equal to what her male counterparts were.

“I totally did [come close to walking away],” Patty shared. “I started to walk away. I was going to walk away. I even said, ‘I would be happy to go to another studio and make a quarter as much because it’s not a sequel on principle. No problem.”

She continued, “It’s interesting as someone who never made any profit in my career up until Wonder Woman, that I was always at peace with it. I was like, ‘Hey I get it.’ But now I was like, ‘Listen, I never made any money in my career because you always had the leverage and I didn’t.’ But now the shoe is on the other foot so it’s time to turn the tables.”

Patty added that her male peers “got paid seven times more than me for the first superhero movie. Then on the second one, they got paid more than me still.”

“It was an easy fight to say, ‘This can’t be. It super can’t be. And it really can’t be on ‘Wonder Woman.’ It was an interesting thing to do, but it was an easy thing to do in the fact I was dead serious.”

Patty added, “If I can’t be victorious in this regard, then I’m letting everyone down,” adding, “And if not me, who? So it became something I became very, very, very passionate about.”

The raise that she finally got made Patty the highest paid female director in Hollywood at the time.

Wonder Woman 1984 will hit theaters on Christmas Day, December 25, and on the same day will be available on HBO Max.

Patty Jenkins Dishes On 'Wonder Woman 3' & Why Fans Will Be Waiting A While

Patty Jenkins is opening up about a possible third film in the Wonder Woman franchise, just as Wonder Woman 1984 is set to premiere next week.

Speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the director admitted that there is a plot in mind for the third film but she says not to hold your breath about when or if it will come anytime soon.

“It’s interesting, I actually came up with a story, and Geoff Johns and I beat out an entire story for Wonder Woman 3 that we were super fired up about, but I’ve never felt this way before as much as I do now,” Patty explained.

She adds that she isn’t sure if she’d return for it.

“I don’t think I’m doing it next and so I have to sort of wait and see where we are in the world, you know? What I wanted to talk about in [WW84] was very prescient to what I was feeling and what you were sort of feeling was coming. So now I’m not sure. So much has changed in the world.”

Patty did add that she “still love[s] the story, I’m sure parts of it, would come over to it, but…I’m trying to say [to myself], ‘Don’t decide. Don’t fall in love with anything. What would Wonder Woman do now? Like, what are you craving Wonder Woman to do now in this world?’”

Previously, Patty did share that Wonder Woman 3 would be the last in Diana’s saga.

Wonder Woman 1984 will be available in theaters and HBO Max on December 25.

Talk Show Host Graham Norton Accidentally Reveals Major 'Wonder Woman 1984' Spoiler

A talk show host accidentally let a “major, major spoiler” slip about Wonder Woman 1984 ahead of the movie’s debut on Christmas Day on HBO Max.

It all went down while Gal Gadot was making an appearance on The Graham Norton Show promoting the movie.

Graham Norton said, “‘Wonder Woman’ fans rejoice because in this outing we get to see the invisible plane. Well we didn’t see it obviously, it’s invisible. But the invisible plane is in it.”

Gal quickly retorted, “I don’t know what you’re talking about Graham… You just gave away a major, major spoiler.”

Graham then said, “We might cut that out,” but obviously, the show did not edit this moment!

There were rumors that Wonder Woman’s invisible airplane were briefly seen in the trailer, but this is the first time we’ve gotten official confirmation of the storyline.

In Wonder Woman lore, her invisible plane is her main form of transportation across longer distances.

Find out how long Wonder Woman 1984 will actually be on HBO Max before disappearing.

Wonder Woman's Patty Jenkins Explains Exactly Why She Doesn't Like Joss Whedon's 'Justice League'

Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is not the biggest fan of Joss Whedon‘s Justice League movie (which has been involved in a ton of controversy lately).

“No, I think that all of us DC directors tossed that out just as much as the fans did. But also, I felt that that version contradicted my first movie in many ways, and this current movie, which I was already in production on. So then, what are you going to do?,” Patty said when asked her thoughts on the movie by CinemaBlend.

She continued, “I was like… you would have to play ball in both directions in order for that to work. The only thing I have done, and have always tried to do, is — I knew, when Zack was doing Justice League, where she sort of ends up. So I always tried… like, I didn’t change her suit, because I never want to… I don’t want to contradict his films, you know? But yet, I have to have my own films, and he’s been very supportive of that. And so, I think that that Justice League was kind of an outlier. They were trying to turn one thing into, kind of, another. And so then it becomes, ‘I don’t recognize half of these characters. I’m not sure what’s going on.’

If you don’t know, Zack exited Justice League halfway through and Joss replaced him. Zack’s version of the film includes a lot of new footage and will be released next year.

Wonder Woman: 1984 will be available to stream on HBO Max at Christmas.

Gal Gadot Pushes Two Cars Apart With Just Her Legs in New 'Wonder Woman 1984' Clip

Gal Gadot uses all her leg strength to help push away two cars from a collision in this brand new teaser for Wonder Woman 1984.

The clip debuted during tonight’s 2020 MTV Movie & TV Awards, which teased several upcoming features.

In the upcoming movie, Wonder Woman finds herself facing off against two new foes: Max Lord and The Cheetah, which is played by Kristen Wiig.

The movie also sees the return of Chris Pine‘s Steve Trevor, who supposedly perished in the final moments of the first movie by flying with a bomb on board his plane.

“I can’t tell you [how he’s back], but here’s what I will say: We didn’t put Steve Trevor in this movie because we just wanted to put Steve Trevor in this movie,” director Patty Jenkins revealed of his return.

She added, “When we thought of the story for this film while we were making the first film, a eureka moment came and it couldn’t have been told without Chris Pine playing Steve Trevor. So I promise you it’s not a gimmick, it’s integral to the story, it was incredibly important that we had him and we just super enjoyed it.”

Wonder Woman 1984 will debut in theaters and on HBO Max on Christmas Day, December 25.
