Anderson .Paak was joined by a special guest during his performance on Saturday Night Live!
During his performance tonight (December 1) on the hit sketch show, the 32-year-old rapper was joined on stage by Kendrick Lamar for a surprise performance of their hit song “Tints.”
The album is an ode to the artist’s origins while pointing to where he’s going next.
“This is my most ambitious album. Working with a lead producer like Dr. Dre, I feel like he along with the team we assembled brought the best out of me. We had fun tackling every mood and genre. We learned so much since Malibu. We’ve seen the world twice and now it’s time to bring it back home. Same man, new car!” he said.
FKA Twigs faces herself in the just released Apple HomePod commercial entitled “Welcome Home,” directed by Spike Jonze!
“Hey Siri, play me something I’d like,” the 30-year-old entertainer asks as soon as she gets in the door of her apartment in the clip.
From there, the four-minute video sees FKA showing off her distinctive dance style to the tune of “Til It’s Over,” a brand new song from the Grammy-nominated rapper Anderson .Paak, which is only available on Apple Music.
FKA been fairly absent from the music and video scene over the last few years so we’re thrilled to see her making a splash in this new visual – Watch below!
The Grammy Award-winning rapper curated the 14-song collection, which is available on February 9 – one week before the release of the movie to theaters on February 16.
The rapper referred to President Trump as “President Agent Orange” during the performance.
The segment started with ATCQ performing their songs “Movin Backwards,” “We the People,” and more. People marched around the arena throughout the performance to represent the groups of people being blocked from coming into the country by Trump’s travel ban.
“I’m not digging the political climate right now,” Busta said while joining in for the performance. “I just wanna thank President Agent Orange for perpetuating all of the evil that you been perpetuating throughout these United States.”
“I want to thank President Agent Orange for the unsuccessful attempt at the Muslim ban,” he added. Watch a clip below.
Like most of his fellow nominees, the 31-year-old singer-songwriter-rapper-producer has been curating a space for himself in the music world for quite some time. While serving as a drummer for American Idol contestant Haley Reinhart in 2012, Anderson independently released his first album, O.B.E. Vol. 1, under the moniker Breezy Lovejoy.
It wasn’t until 2014 where he went on to release Venice in 2014, under his current stage name. Anderson followed up with Malibu in 2016, his most successful and critically acclaimed album to date, featuring the singles: “The Season / Carry Me,” “Am I Wrong” feat. Schoolboy Q, “Room in Here” feat. Sonyae Elise and The Game, and “Come Down“.
Along with his Best New Artist nom, Anderson is up for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Malibu alongside Beyoncé, Rihanna, KING and Gallant.
Anderson is set to perform with fellow Best New Artist nominee Maren Morris and Alicia Keys at the big show on Sunday (February 12) on CBS. Be sure to tune in – we’ll be live-blogging the entire show as well!
