Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, & More to Lead 'Solos' Series for Amazon

Amazon has landed a star-studded cast to lead the upcoming dramatic anthology series Solos.

The new series is being developed by executive producer and showrunner David Weil, who created the show Hunters for Amazon.

Oscar winners Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman, and Helen Mirren are all part of the series, along with Uzo Aduba, Nicole Beharie, Anthony Mackie, Dan Stevens, and Constance Wu.

Solos is a dramatic and thought-provoking seven-part anthology series that explores the deeper meaning of human connection, as explored through the lens of the individual. Solos will tell unique character-driven stories, each from a different perspective and moment in time, that illuminate that even during our most seemingly isolated moments, in the most disparate of circumstances, we are all connected through the human experience.

Sam Taylor-Johnson, Zach Braff, Tiffany Johnson, and David Weil will direct episodes.

“I am beyond thrilled to be bringing Solos to life alongside this group of artists who I so deeply admire. I created this piece with a desire to capture stories about connection, hope and the search for that common hum of humanity that binds us all. I’m immensely grateful to Jennifer Salke and my incredible partners at Amazon for their unwavering support and collaboration on this special project,” Weil said in a statement.

Solos is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video later in 2021.

Nicole Beharie Says She Was 'Blacklisted' & Labeled as 'Difficult' After Being Killed Off of 'Sleepy Hollow'

Nicole Beharie‘s character was shockingly killed off of the Fox drama Sleepy Hollow in 2016 and now, she’s revealing the backstory of what happened behind the scenes.

“My costar and I were both sick at the same time but I don’t believe that we were treated equally,” Nicole told San Diego Tribune. “He was allowed to go back to England for a month [to recover while] I was given Episode 9 to shoot on my own. So I pushed through it and then by the end of that episode I was in urgent care. And all the doctors, including the doctors that the studio was sending, were all confirming, ‘Hey, she can’t work right now.’”

In another interview, she told the New York Times that production was shut down for 2 weeks but they had her see doctors regularly “to make sure I was actually sick.”

“Months ensued and I got a lawyer. I got my hours down and worked through it,” Nicole added. “But then I developed an autoimmune condition. I had C. difficile, which had me on eight different prescription medications.”

“Sometimes I think that some people I was working with didn’t like that I was unwell but loved by the audience,” she continued. “Everyone of color on that show was seen as expendable and eventually let go.”

She said she “never wanted to talk about this until the resentment and bitterness was out of my system” and was “labeled as problematic and blacklisted by some people.”

“I tried to get work afterwards and people were like, ‘We heard you were difficult.’” she continued, “But no one can say I was late or unprofessional or negative.”

Nicole added that she “lost out on a lot of jobs and opportunities because of how somebody labeled me.”

Find out exactly how Nicole‘s character was shockingly killed off of the show.

Sleepy Hollow
star Nicole Beharie, who plays Abbie Mills, was shockingly killed off in a moment of sacrifice to bring down villain Pandora.

“The [season] finale featuring the tragic death of Abbie Mills was a very dramatic ending and a bold move for the show, but Sleepy Hollow has always been known for its shocking finales. We feel we provided a wonderfully poignant conclusion for Abbie and showed some of the best moments between the Witnesses that we’ve seen on-screen. We thank Nicole Beharie for bringing Abbie and Sleepy Hollow to life. We are currently discussing season four, and should the series be picked up for another season, we have some exciting scenarios and new avenues we want to explore,” the producers and showrunner told THR.
