Neil Patrick Harris Criticizes Bruce Springsteen's Tony Awards 2018 Win

Neil Patrick Harris wasn’t holding back while live-tweeting the 2018 Tony Awards!

Following a diss about Rachel Bloom‘s backstage performances, the 44-year-old former How I Met Your Mother star also shared his thoughts about Bruce Springsteen winning the American Theatre Wing’s Special Tony Award for Springsteen on Broadway.

“How was @thealexnewell not nominated for a Tony? @springsteen won, and he uses teleprompters. I don’t get the logic… #livetweetingtheTonys,” he wrote.

When a fan expressed her thoughts about the 68-year-old music icon’s performance, Neil went further: “Seriously? Miking Actors isn’t because they can’t project, it’s for creating a proper sound mix. Using a teleprompter is just not being willing to memorize your lines. The director should have said something. Oh wait.”

Bruce Springsteen Heading to Broadway For Intimate Shows

Bruce Springsteen is about to make a limited run on Broadway!

The Grammy award winning performer just confirmed that he will be headlining Springsteen on Broadway during an eight-week run later this year.

The shows are set to take place NYC’s Walter Kerr Theater, which has less than 1,000 seats, making for an extremely intimate experience!

“I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theaters which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind,” Bruce said in a statement.

He added, “In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theatre is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano and the words and music. Some of the show is spoken, some of it is sung. It loosely follows the arc of my life and my work. All of it together is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value.”

Springsteen on Broadway begins previews October 3rd and will run October 12th through November 26th.

Bruce Springsteen to Perform for Eight Weeks on Broadway!

Fans of Bruce Springsteen will soon be able to see him perform intimate shows when he opens an eight-week residency on Broadway later this year!

The 67-year-old rocker will play five times a week at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York City, likely starting in November, according to Page Six.

“He wants to play a smaller house,” a source at the Kerr told the outlet. “He wants to try something more intimate, and he likes the idea of being on Broadway.”

Jujamcyn Theaters, the company that owns the Kerr, will reportedly not charge Springsteen rent. “He’ll keep the lights on in the building, and they’ll sell gazillions of dollars worth of booze,” the source said.
