Daniel Radcliffe has written an open letter to fans of the Harry Potter franchise in response to the tweets that J.K. Rowling wrote this weekend about trans people.

The 30-year-old actor, who played Harry in the film franchise, is a huge supporter of The Trevor Project, which is focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning youth.

Daniel does not agree with the tweets that Rowling wrote and he wrote, “Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I.”

In his open letter, Daniel also apologized to Harry Potter fans who “now feel that their experience of the books has been tarnished or diminished.”

A lot of celebs have spoken out against the statements made by the author.

Daniel Radcliffe revealed his feelings about his former Harry Potter co-star Rupert Grint welcoming a new baby this month!

“Yes, I texted him the other day, actually, just being like, I’m so happy for him,” Daniel said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live!. “It’s very, very cool.”

He also added, “It’s also super weird for me to think that we are all of the age where we’re having children, but we definitely are and it’s really cool.”

“We’re all just a terrible yardstick for how old you are,” he added. “I remember when I turned 30, a lot of people in my life were really depressed to find out that had happened.”

Ellie Kemper just revealed why she felt so bad for kissing Daniel Radcliffe while filming the new interactive Netflix special, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend.

The 40-year-old actress told Ellen DeGeneres, “I kissed him multiple times, Ellen, and I felt so bad for him because a) I’m three times as old as he is but b) I’m pregnant at the time of us shooting.”

She continued about kissing 30-year-old Daniel: “I felt so bad he had to kiss this old pregnant lady over and over again. There was a moment when he like grazed my belly… it felt wrong, but he’s a trooper. He’s very lovely.”

Daniel Radcliffe is returning to the Harry Potter universe to read chapter one of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” also known in the UK as “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” Daniel starred as Harry Potter in all the films that were released in the early 2000s.

The project is bringing together a bunch of celebrities, who will each be reading from JK Rowling‘s iconic book series.

Daniel Radcliffe is speaking out about that false rumor that he had Coronavirus.

Earlier last month, rumors began spreading that the 30-year-old Harry Potter star tested positive for the world health crisis after a tweet from a fake BBC account went viral. The hoax account tweeted out, “BREAKING: Daniel Radcliffe tests positive for coronavirus. The actor is said to be the first famous person to be publicly confirmed.”

Daniel called into Stephen Colbert‘s home-edition of The Late Show on Tuesday night (March 31) and revealed how he found out about the Twitter Hoax.

“This was about three weeks ago. I was going into doing my play and the makeup artist said to me, ‘You’ve got coronavirus’,” Daniel recalled. “I was like, ‘What?! He had got a text from his niece who apparently just texted him saying, “Oh, yeah, that dude you’re working with, he’s got coronavirus.’ Very much like a warning text, being like ‘you shouldn’t be working with him. You shouldn’t be there at all.’”

“I’ve had various weird stories made up about me over the years, but not as topical as this,” Daniel continued. “I kind of laughed it off and then I did a day a press the next day, in which every interview was just me denying that I had coronavirus.”

Dan on his theories as to why he thinks the rumors started: “I’m just very pale so I think there’s that. There’s me being pale and I think also I’m not on social media so I’m not on top of it enough to like see it and react to it quickly enough to stop it.”

Daniel Radcliffe also confirmed that he’s holding up well at home while social distancing, and that he’s been building LEGOs to pass time.

Daniel Radcliffe is opening up about dealing with fame at a young age.

During a new interview on BBC Radio 4′s Desert Island Discs feature, the 30-year-old actor says that playing the lead in the Harry Potter franchise turned him into an alcoholic.

“If I went out and if I got drunk, I’d suddenly be aware of there being interest in that because it’s not just a drunk guy,” Daniel shared. “It’s ‘Oh, Harry Potter’s getting drunk in the bar.’ And then as you get very drunk, you become aware that ‘Oh, people are watching more now because now I’m getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more.’”

Daniel said that he turned to alcohol to deal with fame as well as when he worried about what he would do once the Harry Potter franchise ended.

“A lot of drinking that happened towards the end of Potter and for a little bit after it finished, it was panic, a little bit not knowing what to do next – not being comfortable enough in who I was to remain sober,” Daniel said.

Daniel continued: “You can also just see people go to drugs and drink because it’s fun and they’re available and it seems like a good idea, and there’s nobody around you talking about the consequences or being honest about that.”

Daniel, who has now been sober since 2010, went on to praise his parents and fellow Harry Potter actors “who were able to give me enough perspective on my life and help me at key moments.”

Not that long ago, Daniel revealed if he wants to play Harry Potter again.
