Dolly Parton Says She'll Look As Young as Her Plastic Surgeons Will Allow Her To

Dolly Parton got candid about aging and her appearance during a conversation with Oprah Winfrey.

“I don’t think about my life in terms of numbers. First of all, I ain’t never gonna be old because I ain’t got time to be old. I can’t stop long enough to grow old,” Dolly, 74, said (via People.)

“I’m gonna look like a cartoon,” she joked. “I’ll have on the makeup. I’ll look as young as my plastic surgeons will allow me and [with] all the makeup and lighting and all that. But I think more than anything, it’s about what comes from inside you.”

“It’s an attitude and you gotta shine from within. Sometimes, that can make you feel young and make you seem young to other people,” she added.

Dolly Parton Responds to Rumors That Her Husband Carl Thomas Dean Is Fake

Dolly Parton is speaking to the rumors that her husband of 54 years, Carl Dean, does not exist.

“A lot of people have thought that through the years, because he does not want to be in the spotlight at all,” Dolly told ET. “It’s just not who he is. He’s like, a quiet, reserved person and he figured if he ever got out there in that, he’d never get a minute’s peace and he’s right about that.”

Dolly and Carl married in 1966 and he has never been part of the spotlight and very few photos of them together have been made public.

“I’ve always respected and appreciated that in him and I’ve always tried to keep him out of the limelight as much as I can,” she added. “He said, ‘I didn’t choose this world, I chose you, and you chose that world. But we can keep our lives separate and together.’ And we do and we have. We’ve been together 56 years, married 54.”

“Our joke about the fact, when people ask me why it’s lasted this long, I say, ‘Because I stay gone.’ And there’s a lot of truth in that — the fact that we’re not in each other’s faces all the time,” Dolly continued. “But we do have a great respect and admiration for each other. We both have a great sense of humor. So, we have a lot of fun.”

Dolly Parton Made Stephen Colbert Cry On 'The Late Show' - Here's Why

Stephen Colbert was brought to tears by Dolly Parton on The Late Show tonight (October 20).

The talk show host had to remove his glasses and wipe away tears after Dolly, 74, sang a few verses of a song her own mom used to sing to her and her siblings.

“Mama used to sing all those songs brought over from the old world. Mama was a good singer too, and she would just sing a capella all the time,” Dolly shared during her interview via Zoom. “So many of those songs were sad, and as I say, some of them just ‘plum pitiful.’”

Dolly recalled that one song always spoke to her in particular and it was called “‘Bury Me Beneath the Willow.’ It was about a girl that was going to get married, and her boyfriend left her at the altar or whatever, so she died, of course—she killed herself, I suppose.”

It was then she sung the verses: “Bury me beneath the willow, under the weeping willow tree, where he may know where I am sleeping and perhaps he’ll weep for me. But where oh where can he be? He’s gone to seek him another bride, he cares no more for me.”

After her impromptu performance, she and the audience watched as Stephen began to tear up and he removed his glasses to wipe his eyes.

“Are you cryin’?” she asked.

Stephen replied, “I have to say… like a lot of Americans, I’m under a lot of stress now, Dolly! You got under my tripwire right there, I’ll tell you… that was pretty beautiful.”

“Mom would cry, we’d cry, those old songs were just amazing,” she added.
