On Hong Kong: “I came here in my childhood and I haven’t been back here since then so it’s been a real pleasure to return here with my parents.”

On being a role model: “If I can be someone, just in some way, that young women can look at and feel empowered to do whatever they want to do, that’s enough for me.

On the similarities and differences with her Crazy Rich Asians character Astrid Leong: “I’d say my day to day style as Gemma is much more laid back. I love sneakers, baseball caps, t-shirts, and street wear in general. I’m not always as elegant as the Astrid look but depending on my mood.”

Gemma Chan, who worked with Constance Wu on last summer’s smash hit film Crazy Rich Asians, “liked” a tweet from her personal Twitter account that said some unfavorable things about her former co-star.

The tweet (which has now been deleted) read, “Constance Wu’s conduct today comes as no surprise to anyone who has worked with her in recent years. She has a reputation for being rude, petty, mean-spirited, and ungrateful.”

Well, Gemma took to Twitter to clarify that she did not mean to “like” that tweet and it was a total accident.

“Just to clarify – it was an accidental ‘like’. Anyone looking for drama or beef, sorry to disappoint,” Gemma tweeted to her followers.

The “like” came right after Constance was forced to clarify some comments she made amid the renewal of her TV show Fresh Off the Boat.

It seems there could be some tension between former Crazy Rich Asians co-stars Gemma Chan and Constance Wu.

Gemma “liked” a tweet on Twitter that called Constance a “rude” and “petty” person.

After Constance‘s rant on Twitter following the renewal of her ABC series Fresh Off the Boat, which she says was not actually about the show’s renewal, journalist Yashar Ali shared his thoughts on the actress.

“Constance Wu’s conduct today comes as no surprise to anyone who has worked with her in recent years. She has a reputation for being rude, petty, mean-spirited, and ungrateful,” he wrote.

Gemma liked the tweet, but the tweet has since been deleted so it has disappeared from her liked posts. A screencap can be seen below.

Crazy Rich Asians stars Gemma Chan and Constance Wu have both arrived at the 2019 Met Gala!

The pair were both in attendance at the event, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday (May 6) in New York City.

The Costume Institute Gala Benefit this year is celebrating the opening of the “Camp: Notes on Fashion” exhibition and is hosted by Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams, Gucci designer Alessandro Michele, and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

FYI: Gemma is wearing Tom Ford with Forevermark jewels. Constance is wearing Marchesa.

Alexander Skarsgard is dapper as he strikes a pose a the Dia:Beacon Spring Benefit hosted in partnership with COS at the Dia:Beacon on Saturday (May 4) in Beacon, New York.

The 42-year-old Big Little Lies star was joined at the event by Glenn Close, Crazy Rich Asian‘s Gemma Chan, Zachary Quinto, Christina Ricci and Liya Kebede.

This event raises crucial funds for Dia:Beacon’s special exhibitions, new commissions, and public and education programs.

Olivia Munn and Gemma Chan strike a pose on the red carpet while attending the 2019 Apex for Youth’s Inspiration Awards Gala held at the Cipriani Wall Street on Wednesday (April 17) in New York City.

The 38-year-old actress was honored for her contributions to the Asian-American community, alongside Gemma, 36, and Credit Karma founder Kenneth Lin.

Apex is an organization which aids underserved Asian and immigrant communities in New York City.

“It’s very important that we realize it’s not just checking a box,” Gemma said at the event (via WWD). “And there’s a difference between diversity and representation. True representation, for me, is when you have stories which are being told by and from the viewpoint of the community in question. And it’s more than just skin deep. It’s about authenticity in that sense.”
