George Clooney Never Discussed Marriage with Amal Before He Proposed - Hear His Proposal Story!

George Clooney is opening up about how he proposed to wife Amal Clooney and how they never actually talked about getting married before that moment.

The 59-year-old two-time Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker was a guest on Howard Stern‘s SiriusXM show this week and he discussed the proposal.

George realized he wanted to propose to Amal while they were in Africa on a safari. His proposal plan involved a homecooked, candlelit dinner, a custom engagement ring, and a romantic record sung by his famed aunt, Rosemary Clooney.

“I got it all timed out so I’m going to ask her on this one song. We’ve never talked about marriage, so I don’t know what’s going to happen,” George said. He revealed that he hid the ring in a drawer and told Amal to dig through it to find something to light the candles.

“She opens the drawer and there’s a ring in it, and she looks and goes … ‘There’s a ring.’ Like, somebody else had left a ring there 10 years ago,” George said. At this moment, he got down on one knee and Amal was so shocked that it took her 20 minutes to answer the question.

George said, “Finally, I said to her, ‘Look, I just need a yes or a no because I’m 50-something and my hip can go out.’”

Amal Clooney Thanks Husband George Clooney For Sticking By Her While Writing New Legal Book

Amal Clooney is gushing over her husband, George Clooney.

The 42-year-old human rights lawyer spoke about her filmmaker hubby during the virtual launch of her new legal text, “The Right to a Fair Trial in International Law”, according to ETCanada.

Amal opened up about how the text has taken a toll on her marriage as she was writing it.

“I know this process seemed interminable to him,” Amal shared with the virtual audience. “Especially since I was always so sure that this was ‘the very last drafting session,’ over and over again!”

She added, “The book drafting took place at all his filming locations and throughout the process. He was not only patient but so wonderfully encouraging and inspiring…I really did not need another example of how amazing he is but this process provided one.”

Amal even gave him a shoutout during the launch as she had a hunch he was watching, too.

“I think he’s watching this downstairs in the kitchen, so I just want to say ‘thank you,’” she shared. “For my side, I can promise for the sake of our marriage that I will never do this again!”

Just recently, George opened up in an interview of his own about Amal‘s support throughout the filming of his new film, The Midnight Sky.

“There is no question that having Amal in my life changed everything for me. It was the first time that everything that she did and everything about her was infinitely more important than anything about me,” he said.

George Clooney Reveals His Thoughts on Tom Cruise's Viral COVID-19 Tirade

This week, audio was leaked of Tom Cruise allegedly yelling at the crew of the latest Mission: Impossible movie for violating safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, George Clooney is weighing in with his thoughts.

“He didn’t overreact because it is a problem,” George said on Howard Stern‘s SiriusXM radio show. “I have a friend who’s an AD on another TV show who just had the almost exact same thing happen with not quite as far out a response.”

George, however, said he might have handled it differently. “I wouldn’t have done it that big. I wouldn’t have, you know, pulled people out,” he said. “You’re in a position of power and it’s tricky, right? You do have a responsibility for everybody else and he’s absolutely right about that. And, you know, if the production goes down, a lot of people lose their jobs. People have to understand that and have to be responsible. It’s just not my style to, you know, to take everybody to task that way.”

“I think it doesn’t help necessarily to point to specific people in that way and do it that…but, you know, everybody has their own style. The people who were on that shoot will tell us more about it,” George continued. “I understand why he did it. He’s not wrong at all about that. You know, I just, I don’t know that I would have done it quite that personally, but I don’t know all the circumstances so maybe he had it 10 or 15 times before.”

Mission: Impossible 7 has been filming around Europe for the last few months and there have been instances of cases on set. Tom reportedly paid £500,000 out of his own pocket to rent an old cruise ship for the cast and crew to safely isolate on.

George Clooney's Family Have Barely Left Home During the COVID-19 Pandemic For This Reason

George Clooney revealed his young son Alexander, 3, has asthma, and because of this, his family has barely left their Hollywood Hills compound since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

“This has been a crappy year for everyone. Started badly and ran badly all year long, until recently… But I’m very lucky. I ended up having a successful career. I wound up living in a home with some space in it. We can walk around outside,” George, 59, told the Guardian, adding that they have stayed inside because “my son has asthma. They say it’s not so bad on young people. But do we know that? We don’t know anything about the longterm of this yet.”

George and Amal Clooney are also parents to Alexander‘s twin sister Ella.

There is finally some good news regarding the pandemic and what crucial next steps are being taken for this to end.

George Clooney Was Hospitalized With Pancreatitis While Filming 'The Midnight Sky'

George Clooney has opened up about filming on The Midnight Sky for Netflix and revealed that he was admitted to the hospital during it.

The 59-year-old actor was speaking to The Mirror (via Today) during promotion for the film and opened up about how losing the 30 pounds for his role in it, caused him to be admitted to the hospital with pancreatitis.

While recovered now, George shared that he “was trying too hard to lose the weight quickly and probably wasn’t taking care of myself.”

If you are unaware, acute pancreatitis is a disease in which the pancreas becomes inflamed. Symptoms range from mild discomfort to a severe, life-threatening illness.

“It took a few weeks to get better and as a director, it’s not so easy because you need energy,” George added. “We were out on this glacier in Finland, which made it a lot harder to work. But it certainly helped with the character.”

The Midnight Sky centers on Augustine (Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

The movie will debut on Netflix on December 23. See the latest trailer here!
