The Broadway revival of the play Take Me Out will premiere in April 2020 and the first look at Jesse Williams, Patrick J. Adams, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson in costume has been revealed.
The beloved play, written by Richard Greenberg, was originally produced on Broadway in 2003 with Daniel Sunjata and Denis O’Hare leading the cast.
Here is the synopsis: When Darren Lemming (Williams), the star center fielder for the Empires, comes out of the closet, the reception off the field reveals a barrage of long-held unspoken prejudices. Facing some hostile teammates and fraught friendships, Darren is forced to contend with the challenges of being a gay person of color within the confines of a classic American institution. As the Empires struggle to rally toward a championship season, the players and their fans begin to question tradition, their loyalties, and the price of victory.
Preview performances begin on April 2 ahead of an opening night on April 23. Tickets are on sale to the general public starting January 16.
