Ashley Biden hugs her dad, President Joe Biden, after watching his swearing in ceremony at West Side of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday (January 20) during the 2021 Presidential Inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Hunter Biden was also seen at the event, giving his dad a big congratulations after the official swearing in took place.

Dr. Jill Biden, the President’s wife and the new First Lady, was on hand as well and offered her congratulations to her husband as he was sworn in to the highest office in the land.

President-elect Joe Biden is about to be sworn into office!

The President-elect of the United States and future First Lady Dr. Jill Biden joined Vice President-elect Kamala Harris and future Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday (January 20) ahead of the 2021 presidential inauguration ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The four all stopped to turn around and wave as they made their way in from the East Front of the U.S. Capitol. Joe Biden will become the 46th President of the United States during the ceremony.

The Vice President Elect chose to wear Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson for her Inauguration Day look. Christopher is a young black designer hailing from Baton Rouge and currently based in New York City. Sergio is a black designer who is originally from South Carolina.

Dr. Jill Biden is in a Markarian matching coat and dress set. Joe Biden is wearing Ralph Lauren.

The swearing in ceremony will happen at around noon ET.

Joe Biden holds hands with wife Dr. Jill Biden as they attend the lighting event along the National Mall on Tuesday evening (January 19) in Washington, D.C.

The President-Elect and First Lady-Elect were joined by Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris and her husband, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, for the ceremony, which honored the 400,000 American victims of the coronavirus pandemic at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Ahead of Biden‘s inauguration tomorrow, the group took time out to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the past year of the pandemic. In addition to the lights, 200,000 small flags were also installed to honor the victims of COVID-19.

The Capitol has also been given a patriotic makeover before the big event this week, as American flags were placed around the buildings of importance, including the National Mall, Capitol buildings and more.

Just the day before, Biden and Kamala were seen volunteering at the Philabundance food bank in Philadelphia, by filling up donation food boxes.

Ashley Biden has stayed largely out of the spotlight as her parents, President-Elect Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden, campaigned for his presidency.

However, Ashley made an appearance on the Today show on Tuesday (January 19), one day before the inauguration, and confirmed a long-standing rumor. It has been rumored that Dr. Biden had not heard from Melania Trump to uphold a longstanding tradition.

It is tradition for the outgoing First Lady to do a walk through of the White House residence and have tea with the new, incoming First Lady as they transition to new presidencies.

“Has your mom heard from Melania Trump about doing the traditional protocols?” Jenna Bush Hager asked.

“No, I don’t think they’re doing the traditional protocol, which is unfortunate,” Ashley said. “But I think we’re all OK with it.”

It is tradition for the outgoing First Lady to do a walk through of the White House residence with the new, incoming First Lady as they transition to new presidencies. Michelle Obama invited Melania Trump for a walk through of the White House living quarters in January of 2017, when Trump was sworn in, despite Trump questioning the citizenship of her husband, former President Barack Obama.

Now, a report has emerged from CNN confirming the traditional walk through will not be happening between Melania Trump and incoming First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden.

“Melania Trump will become the first modern first lady not to invite the woman who will replace her to the White House for a walk-through of the private living quarters on the second and third floors,” CNN reports. A report emerged last week suggesting the current First Lady had not reached out to Dr. Biden yet.

The inauguration of President Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Elect Kamala Harris will take place this coming Wednesday (January 20) in Washington, DC.

Melania Trump is not helping with the transition.

After her husband Donald Trump was impeached for a second time due to the incitement of violence at the U.S. Capitol, the only President in United States history to be impeached twice, a CNN report arrived Thursday (January 14) that the First Lady is not helping out with future First Lady Dr. Jill Biden‘s transition to the White House.

“The outgoing first lady hasn’t done anything of significance as the weeks of her tenure come to a close. She hasn’t established an office for continuing her platform in the post-White House years, according to a source familiar with her activities. Nor has she helped with the onboarding of incoming first lady Jill Biden — with whom she has still not made contact, the source said,” the outlet reports.

“The only thing Trump has done, besides pack the White House, work on photo albums of her time as first lady and oversee photo shoots of a rug and decorative items, is make a convoluted statement about the events of last Wednesday, five days after they occurred.”

Trump issued a video statement about the U.S. Capitol breach a week later after being banned from almost all social media platforms for inciting violence.
