Dr. Jill Biden Responds To WSJ Essay About Dropping Her 'Dr' Title: 'It Was Such A Surprise'

Dr. Jill Biden appeared on The Late Show on Thursday night with husband, President-Elect Joe Biden, and opened up about the scathing Wall Street Journal essay about her having and using her hard earned Dr. title.

The article is titled “Is There a Doctor in the White House? Not if You Need an M.D.” and it was written by a man named Joseph Epstein.

“Madame First Lady — Mrs. Biden — Jill — kiddo: a bit of advice on what may seem like a small but I think is a not unimportant matter,” he began his essay, which was met with a lot of criticism and uproar. “Any chance you might drop the ‘Dr.’ before your name?”

During her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Jill opened up about how while she didn’t read the essay, she did hear the highlights and said it was “such a surprise.”

“It was really the tone of it,” Dr. Biden added. “He called me ‘kiddo.’…One of the things I’m most proud of is my doctorate. I’ve worked so hard for it.”

Joe even mentioned that he had the honor of handing her doctorate to Jill on stage at the University of Delaware.

Jill did thank all her supporters online who condemned the article and stood up for her and her title.

“Look at all the people who came out in support of me. I am so grateful. I was just overwhelmed by how gracious people were,” she shared.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama, and the incoming first-ever Second Gentleman, Douglas Emhoff, shared their support on social media.

Dr. Biden received her doctoral degree in education in 2007. She also has two masters degrees from West Chester University and Villanova University.

'Dr. Biden' Is Trending After a Misogynistic Article About Jill Biden Was Published - Read Reactions

Dr. Biden is currently a trending topic on Twitter after a misogynistic article about Jill Biden was published in the Wall Street Journal.

Chasten Buttigieg, the husband of former presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg, tweeted, “The author could’ve used fewer words to just say ‘ya know in my day we didn’t have to respect women.’”

The future first couple, Joe Biden and Jill Biden, know the importance of fitness and exercise!

The President-elect and the future First Lady of the United States were seen on a bike ride through Cape Henlopen State Park on Saturday (November 14) in Lewes, Del.

The Bidens have reportedly been staying at a vacation home in Rehoboth Beach while working on his transition to the presidency.

Joe, Jill, and the secret service staff with them all were wearing masks and gave a great example to Americans on how they should be masking up while outside of the house.

On Friday, Joe tweeted, “I am alarmed by the surge in reported COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations, and fatalities. This crisis demands a robust and immediate federal response which has been woefully lacking. I am the president-elect, but will not be president until next year. COVID-19 does not respect dates on the calendar, it is accelerating right now. Urgent action is needed today, now, by the current administration.”

Joe Biden's Dog Major Will Be First Rescue Dog in White House

The White House will soon be the home for Joe Biden and wife Dr. Jill Biden – and their two dogs!

The President-Elect and and his wife will be moving into the White House in January 2021 after Inauguration Day now that Joe has won the Presidential Election. They will also be bringing their two German Shepherds Champ and Major with them.

Major will be the first rescue dog to ever live in the White house.

After winning the 2008 Presidential Election, Joe and Jill purchased three-month-old puppy Champ from a Pennsylvania breeder.

In November 2018, the Bidens adopted Major from the Delaware Humane Association.

Today is Major’s lucky day!” the association wrote on Facebook at the time. “Not only did Major find his forever home, but he got adopted by Vice President Joe Biden & Dr. Jill Biden! The Bidens have gotten to know Major while fostering him and are now ready to make the adoption official.”

Since President William McKinley was in office back in 1897, every single president and their family have had a dog in the White House. Donald Trump is the only president to not have had a dog with him.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are celebrating their historic win in Delaware!

The President-Elect and Vice President-Elect took to the stage to give victory speeches after winning the 2020 Election on Saturday night (November 7) in Wilmington, Delaware.

First up, Kamala spoke to supporters, while acknowledging that she is the first woman, and person of color, to hold the position of Vice President.

“But while I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last,” Kamala said. “Because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities and to the children of our country regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: dream with ambition, lead with conviction and see yourselves in a way that others may not simply because they’ve never seen it before.”

Joe then took the stage to deliver his own speech, to share a message with those who voted for Donald Trump.

“For all those of you who voted for President Trump, I understand the disappointment tonight. I’ve lost a couple of times myself. But now, let’s give each other a chance,” Joe said. “It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric, lower the temperature, see each other again, listen to each other again. And to make progress we have to stop treating our opponents as enemies.”

After their speeches, Joe and Kamala were joined on stage by their families, including Joe‘s wife Dr. Jill Biden and Kamala‘s husband Douglas Emhoff.
