Katharine McPhee is back on the American Idol stage!

The 37-year-old actress and singer returned for the Celebrity Duet round of singing competition show on Sunday night (April 4).

Katharine teamed up contestant Willie Spence for a duet of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli‘s song “The Prayer,” and he practically upstaged her!

“You do no wrong in my eyes,” judge Luke Bryan said to the 21-year-old caretaker after the performance.

Katy Perry added, “It was goosebumps central, everywhere.”

Ahead of the performance, Willie dedicated the song to his grandfather, who recently died.

“This has really been one of the hardest times of my life,” Willie said. “My grandfather still is my hero to this day, and I just know he’s watching and smiling down.”

For his solo performance earlier in the show, Willie performed a cover of Bette Midler’s “Wind Beneath My Wings.

If you forgot, Katharine competed on season five of American Idol where she finished as the runner-up to Taylor Hicks.

Katharine recently showed off her post-baby bod in a bikini one month after welcoming son Rennie with husband David Foster.

After showing off her curves in a bikini earlier this week, the 37-year-old entertainer took to her Instagram Stories to model a one-piece swimsuit designed by her step-daughter Sara Foster.

“Best one piece I’ve ever tried,” Kat captioned the photo. “Usually it’s cut too low and the torso isn’t long enough. Straps are adjustable. So comfortable! You nail it @SaraFoster.”

Kat also showed off the matching Summersalt x Sara Foster swimsuits that were made for her husband David Foster and their newborn son Rennie.

It’s been just over a month since Katharine McPhee and David Foster welcomed their baby boy Rennie and she is showing off her body in a few new bikini selfies!

The 37-year-old entertainer and actress took to Instagram to post the photos and captioned one of them, “Loving my curves because my baby gave them to me.” One of the photos features celeb stylist Monica Rose!

About the origin of Rennie‘s name, Katharine previously shared, “We had a couple names, but my husband was on a text chain with his sisters and one of his sisters suggested an old family name. It was his great-grandfather’s name, his great-uncle’s name, so it has a long history in his family. My husband said, ‘Hi, Ren Foster,’ and so we said, ‘That’s a good name. It’s a strong name.’”

Katharine McPhee is opening up about her life as a new mom!

The 36-year-old actress, whose new series Country Comfort just premiered on Netflix, welcomed her first child into the world last month.

“It just feels so natural,” Kat told People about being mom to son Rennie. “I’ve had a really good baby; he’s been so good. I’m so in love!”

Katharine says she is not stressed about getting her post-pregnancy body back into shape.

“I thought I would have this pressure [to bounce back] but I’ve just been so grateful and happy that I’ve had a healthy baby and I’ve felt really good, emotionally and physically,” she said. “I’m so happy that I don’t have this crazy pressure yet to fit into whatever jeans I have in my closet. I don’t even think about them right now! In my everyday life, I would have an event coming up or need to work out and it’s just really nice to have a break and be happy where I am.”

Kat also talked about life at home with Rennie and husband David Foster.

“I’m up at 5 a.m. with him and we listen to his dad’s piano album and we have our quiet time,” she said. “And at night before we put him in his room, it’s just the three of us in bed. We take lots of pictures! It’s really sweet.”

In another interview, Katharine talked about why her husband is “annoyed” with her right now.

Katharine McPhee is a new mom after welcoming her son Rennie into the world last month and she revealed she did something that annoyed husband David Foster this week.

The 36-year-old singer and actress revealed their newborn son’s name during an interview on The Today Show, even though David wanted to keep the name private.

“My husband was kind of annoyed. I said, ‘what was I supposed to say? Nothing like, I’m sorry, we’re not sharing the name.’ Cause we don’t want to be like that pretentious over the name, but just, it’s the only kind of thing you can hold on to that feels private, you know, that you can kind of keep, but Hoda [Kotb] just asked me on the Today Show like ‘what’s his name?’ And I was didn’t want to be like, ‘sorry, we’re not sharing it,’” Kat said while being interviewed on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show.

She continued, “You can’t say no to Hoda. My husband’s friends with her too. So anyway, I think he’s like a little bit, he’s just like, ‘it’s the only thing we have to keep private.’ And I’m like, ‘I’m sorry. She asked me the question.’”

Kat also talked about the origin of the name.

“We love the name. We’re so we’re so in love with him,” Katharine said. “It’s really, it’s so original. And it came to us like honestly, two hours before he was born. So it’s a really great, it was a, it’s a family name, but one of his family members didn’t tell us about til hours before he was born. And we, I kind of like it sort of took my breath away. I was waiting for something like that. And I just didn’t think it would happen. We were going to name him something totally different, which was a great name, but not something that meant something. So anyway, yes, the cat’s out of the bag. It’s not like, you know, we’re the only people who’ve named our child something, but it’s just, we wanted to keep it as private as long as we could. So anyway, I’m in trouble, but hopefully, hopefully my husband will not be too mad.”

Katharine McPhee revealed the name she and David Foster chose for their newborn son, born in February 2021!

The 36-year-old singer/actress and 71-year-old musician and producer chose the name Rennie David Foster for their baby, and she’s explaining the meaning behind his name.

During her appearance on the Today show, Katharine said, “Okay, well, his name, we haven’t said anything. My husband probably will kill me for saying it, but his name is Rennie David Foster,” she said, adding, “We picked Rennie cause I’d actually been in labor for a while. We didn’t have a name picked out.”

Katharine McPhee welcomed a baby boy into the world late last month and she just shared her first photo with the newborn!

The 36-year-old actress and singer took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday (March 6) and posted a photo from her walk outdoors with her son.

“Just in case you were wondering… I love being a mommy!” Kat captioned the photo.

This is the first child for Katharine and her husband David Foster. They haven’t yet revealed the little one’s name.

David also is the father of five adult daughters – Sara, 40, Erin, 38, and Jordan, 34, with ex-wife Rebecca Dyer and Allison, 50, and Amy, 47, from previous relationships.

In a recent interview, Kat addressed the 35-year age gap between her and David.
