Katharine McPhee is aware of what people think about her relationship with David Foster and she is opening up about how she was initially hesitant to date him because of that.

The 36-year-old actress and the 71-year-old music producer have a 35-year difference in their ages and people obviously have a lot of opinions about that gap.

“We all have the ability to label things and to look at something for the way that it looks or face value and make a judgment. So I totally get the judgment initially, but things are never as they appear, things are never exactly as they appear and I’m in love with our love story and that’s all that matters,” Katharine said while being interview for Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy Podcast.

Katharine said that she and David had a “real journey” and that their love story didn’t happen overnight.

“I had a real process,” she said. “It took me a while to kind of come around to really want to have a real, serious relationship because I was very concerned with what people would think.”

Kat and David met back in 2006 when she was a contestant on American Idol and he was a mentor. They continued to have a professional relationship for years and later developed a romantic one.

“The perception of what people try to create, especially with women, it’s always the woman’s fault,” Kat said. “It’s the woman who wants to be with the older man because he has money and he’s had success and she wants this, that. I mean, our story’s been the complete opposite.”

Katharine McPhee is reflecting on her pregnancy in her first interview since welcoming her first child with husband David Foster.

The 36-year-old actress and singer was featured on Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy Podcast and got candid about her fears of relapsing into her eating disorder of bulimia, which she has been open about her struggles with.

“It just suddenly came up in a way that hadn’t been present in a long time,” Katharine says about her biggest challenge of body issues as her bump grew.

She continued, “I have felt really stable in my life in the last four or five years, and my weight has been sort of like more consistent. But feeling like there was a relapse after getting pregnant was really shocking and upsetting and concerning for me, because I was suddenly so obsessed with food, starting from this first trimester.”

“I had such a distortion of the way that I looked. I look back at these pictures and my husband was documenting like every day, because I’d be like, ‘Take a picture of me now. Am I showing?’ And I look back and I’m like, ‘Oh my god, why was I so hard on myself?’”

Katharine revealed that she gained 40 pounds while pregnant and felt “really ravenous” and “very obsessed with food” during her first trimester in particular.

Her worries about relapsing came when there was a feeling “like I was overeating. And then I had that stuffed feeling, where I couldn’t breathe. And I couldn’t figure out if I was just stuffed feeling because there was a new thing in my body that was making me feel stuffed or if I was actually eating too much food. I was eating really fast. And there’s just a lot of anxiety.”

She added, “But I weathered it and I’m really grateful I’m at the end of it, that I feel this good and that I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘Yeah, my legs, my thighs, my arms are a little bit thicker, but I’m OK with it.’”

In 2010, Katharine opened up about her struggles with bulimia in an interview with Shape magazine.

“Katharine McPhee and David Foster have welcomed a healthy baby boy. Mom, Dad and son are all doing wonderfully,” a rep told the outlet. A name was not yet revealed.

The couple tied the knot back in June of 2019 after first meeting back in 2006 on the set of American Idol. The couple announced their pregnancy back in October.

“Now that I am having a boy, there are different things I need to worry about to teach him versus the things I would be thinking about with a girl,” the 36-year-old actress and singer just recently told Roxy Manning and Tammin Sursok on the “Women on Top” podcast. See what else she said!

The first trailer for the upcoming Netflix series Country Comfort, starring Katharine McPhee as an accidental nanny, has arrived.

The 36-year-old singer and actress, who is about to become a mom in real life, plays a country singer who gets fired from her band and becomes mistaken for a family’s new nanny.

“Bailey (McPhee) takes a job as a nanny for a rugged cowboy named Beau (Eddie Cibrian) and his five children. With a never-give up attitude and loads of Southern charm, this newbie-nanny is able to navigate the family dynamics and be the mother figure they’ve been missing. To her surprise, Bailey also gets the band she’s been missing in this musically talented family who help get her back on the road to stardom,” Netflix says in the show’s official synopsis.

Katharine McPhee is bumping along on Valentine’s Day!

The 36-year-old pregnant singer, actress, and Broadway star stepped out to do some shopping with husband David Foster on Sunday afternoon (February 14) in Los Angeles.

Katharine looked cute in a black sweater paired with a long, red skirt while the 71-year-old music producer sported a vest over a white dress shirt paired with jeans for their outing.

After doing some shopping, the parents-to-be stopped by a restaurant for a quick bite to eat.

Earlier that day, Katharine took to Instagram to share a sweet message to David in honor of Valentine’s Day.

“My forever Valentine!! My best friend, my favorite person, my motivator, my everyday! @davidfoster I looove you cookie. ❤️❤️❤️ #happyvalentinesday,” Katharine captioned the below post.
