Julian Edelman Is Retiring from Football, Explains Why He's Ending Career

New England Patriots player Julian Edelman has announced that he is retiring from his NFL career after spending 12 years with the team.

The wide receiver, who will turn 35 next month, had his contract with the Patriots terminated after he failed a physical. For those that don’t know, he underwent knee surgery in 2020 and only played in six games, resulting in his worst totals for catches and yards since 2012.

Julian released a video message in which he explained to fans why he’s ending his career.

Drew Brees Announces Retirement from Football with Help from His Kids (Video)

Drew Brees has announced that he is retiring from the NFL and he had help from his four kids while revealing the news to the world.

The 42-year-old football player, who has been the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints since 2006, shared the news in an Instagram post on Sunday (March 14).

In the video, Drew‘s four kids – Baylen, Bowen, Callen, and Rylen – announced, “After 15 years with the Saints and 20 years in the NFL, our dad is finally gonna retire. So he can spend more time with us! Yeah!!”

“After 20 years as a player in the NFL and 15 years as a Saint, it is time I retire from the game of football. Each day, I poured my heart & soul into being your Quarterback,” Drew wrote in his post. “Til the very end, I exhausted myself to give everything I had to the Saints organization, my team, and the great city of New Orleans. We shared some amazing moments together, many of which are emblazoned in our hearts and minds and will forever be a part of us. You have molded me, strengthened me, inspired me, and given me a lifetime of memories. My goal for the last 15 years was striving to give to you everything you had given to me and more.”

He concluded, “I am only retiring from playing football, I am not retiring from New Orleans. This is not goodbye, rather a new beginning. Now my real life‘s work begins!”

Drew is the NFL’s all-time leader in career passing yards and he was a Super Bowl champion in 2010.

NFL's JJ Watt Joins Arizona Cardinals After Being Released From Houston Texans After 10 Seasons

JJ Watt is joining a new team!

The 31-year-old pass-rusher announced on Twitter that he had signed with the Arizona Cardinals by sharing a photo of himself wearing a Cardinals’ shirt with the caption, “Source: me.”

Although terms were not disclosed, ESPN reports that the deal is worth $31 million and includes $23 million guaranteed.

Last month, JJ parted ways with the Houston Texans. He had played with the team for 10 seasons.

“The connection I have with the people of Houston is special, and I will never take that for granted because I know how rare it is. I just want you to know that I love you and I appreciate you,” JJ said in a video posted to Twitter. “I want to thank the McNair family for drafting me and giving me my first opportunity in the NFL. Thank you, Houston.”

At the start of the coronavirus pandemic, JJ and his wife Kealia Ohai made a generous donation to the Houston food bank.

NFL Quarterback Philip Rivers Retires After 17 Seasons in the League

Philip Rivers is moving on.

The Indianapolis Colts star quarterback announced on Wednesday (January 20) that he would be retiring.

The 39-year old told the San Diego Union-Tribune, “It’s just time. It’s just right.”

Philip has played a total of 17 seasons in the NFL and retires with an incredibly impressive career, having thrown more than 63,000 passing yards, logging 421 passing touchdowns and making 8 Pro Bowls. He played the majority of his career with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Philip also revealed that after his retirement he would focus on coaching high school football. He told the San Diego Union-Tribune, “What has helped me come to this (decision) is the growing desire to coach high school football,” he said. “That’s what I’ve always wanted to do. It’s been growing. I can’t wait.”

It was announced last May that Philip would serve as the head football coach at St. Michael Catholic High School Fairhope, Ala. after retiring.

Longtime NFL stars Tom Brady and Drew Brees played against each other this weekend and they shared a touching moment after the game.

The guys spent time with Drew‘s kids on the field after the game on Sunday (January 17) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, La.

Tom‘s team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, beat Drew‘s team, the New Orleans Saints, and will move on to the NFC Championship Game this coming weekend.

Drew and his four kids – sons Baylen, 12, Bowen, 10, and Callen, 8, and daughter Rylen, 6 – were all on the field with him while spending some quality time with Tom after the game.

Tom threw a touchdown pass to one of the boys and the moment was caught on video. While walking away, Tom was heard telling one of the boys, “Be nice to your sister.”
