Emma Corrin is opening up about playing Princess Diana in the new season of The Crown.

During a new interview, the 24-year-old actress insisted that the show covered the late princess’ battle with bulimia “in an honest way.”

“We’d been working on her body language, and we put together a document that we sent to the script team and said: ‘Can you include some of this in the writing because we’d love to really flesh out those scenes?’” Emma shared with Radio Times.

“I felt that if we were trying to depict bulimia in an honest way, we had to actually show it – otherwise it’s a disservice to anyone who has been through that,” Emma added. “I don’t think we should shy away from those conversations; Diana was very candid about her experience with bulimia, and I so admire that.”

While preparing for her role as Diana, Emma said she did extensive research on eating disorders.

“You can’t do justice to everything she was experiencing without including that,” Emma told Variety in a different interview. “It was so symptomatic of the emotional turmoil and all the suppressed emotions that she was feeling.”

Emma Corrin is opening up about being chosen to play the late Princess Diana for the upcoming fourth season of Netflix’s hit series The Crown.

The 24-year-old actress says that she didn’t tell her friends about landing the role because she didn’t want the news to leak.

Eventually after they guessed the news, Emma says, “my friends from school did this incredible thing, where they made me a scrapbook filled with all of the screenshots from our group WhatsApp, where I have said, ‘Oh my God, guys, I’ve been invited to read.’ Or a random conversation we’d had four years ago when I said, ‘Isn’t Diana amazing!’”

Emma told British Vogue, “I feel I’ve got to know Diana like you would a friend. I know that sounds really weird, but I get a great sense of companionship from her. I suppose, over time, you kind of start to patch together a sense of empathy and a sense of understanding. I love figuring people out.”

For the wedding scene, Diana‘s wedding dress was recreated for Emma to wear.

“The Emanuels, who designed the original, gave us the patterns, and then it was made for me. We were filming the scene when you first see her in the wedding dress – I think it was Lancaster House in London – and I had a team of about 10 people helping me put it on, because it’s massive. I walked out and everyone went completely silent. More than anything else I wear in the series, it’s so … It’s her,” she said.

Prince Harry is opening up about his mom, Princess Diana, on the 23rd anniversary of her death.

During the ITV and HBO Our Mother Diana: Her Life and Legacy special, which aired in 2017, the then 33-year-old royal revealed that his last phone call with Diana was very short, and it was his fault it was.

Harry revealed that he and older brother, Prince William, were at Queen Elizabeth‘s Scottish retreat, Balmoral, and more interested in getting back into playing with their cousins than speaking to Diana.

“If I’d known that that was the last time I was going to speak to my mother the things that I would – the things I would have said to her,” Harry shared.

Previously, Harry admitted that he still hasn’t truly dealt with his grief of losing his mother at such a young age.

He shared that he has only cried tears of grief twice – at her graveside at Althorp in 1997, and since then, “maybe, maybe once…so there’s, you know, there’s a lot of — there’s a lot of grief that still needs to be let out.”

Prince Harry and Prince William are speaking out in a rare joint statement about how they will be honoring their late mom Princess Diana next year.

The brothers will be installing a statue of Diana in the Sunken Garden of Kensington Palace on July 1, 2021 – the day she would have celebrated her 60th birthday.

“The statue was commissioned to mark the twentieth anniversary of her death and recognize her positive impact in the UK and around the world,” the statement read (via E! News). “The Princes hope that the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on their mother’s life and her legacy.”

Ian Rank-Broadley has been commissioned to create the statue.

There have been many reports about a strain in Harry and William‘s relationship and a new report claimed they didn’t speak for months after something that happened in the royal family.

The Crown has found its Princess Diana for the last two seasons.

The long-running royal series revealed on Sunday (August 16) that Elizabeth Debicki will depict the beloved late royal in Seasons 5 and 6, the two final seasons of the series.

“Princess Diana‘s spirit, her words and her actions live in the hearts of so many. It is my true privilege and honour to be joining this masterful series which has had me absolutely hooked from day one,” she said in a statement.

The late Princess Diana imparted some wisdom on her son Prince William prior to her tragic death.

The late royal sat down with BBC1 Panorama for an interview in November of 1995, two years before her death, to talk about her divorce from Prince Charles following his affair with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

During the interview, she discussed how she explained the separation to William and Prince Harry.

“I went to the school and put it to William, particularly, that if you find someone you love in life you must hang onto it and look after it. And if you were lucky enough to find someone who loved you, then you must protect it,” she said.

“William asked me what had been going on, and could I answer his questions, which I did. He said, ‘Was that the reason why our marriage had broken up?’ And I said, ‘Well, there were three of us in this marriage, and the pressures of the media was another factor, so the two together were very difficult.’ But although I still loved Papa, I couldn’t live under the same roof as him, and likewise with him.”

“He’s a child that’s a deep thinker, and we don’t know for a few years how it’s gone it. But I put it gently, without resentment or anger,” she added of how he took the news.

An interview that Princess Diana did back in 1995 has resurfaced and in it, she gives a surprising answer on whether she thinks Prince Charles or Prince William should be the next King of England.

When Diana gave the interview, William was just 13-years-old, so he was not ready to take on such a big role.

“Do you think it would make more sense in the light of the marital difficulties that you and the Prince of Wales have had if the position of monarch passed directly to your son Prince William?” Martin Bashir asked her for the BBC1 Panorama interview (via People).

Diana responded, “Well, then you have to see that William‘s very young at the moment, so do you want a burden like that to be put on his shoulders at such an age? So I can’t answer that question.”

Martin then rephrased the question and asked, “Would it be your wish that when Prince William comes of age that he were to succeed the Queen rather than the current Prince of Wales?”

Diana said, “My wish is that my husband finds peace of mind, and from that follows others things, yes.”

Queen Elizabeth has publicly voiced her support for Charles to be her successor and royal experts say it’s highly unlikely that he will abdicate the throne to his son.
