'Dancing With The Stars' Teases Derek Hough Is Returning For Season 29

Dancing With The Stars is teasing something huge for its upcoming season – a possible return of Derek Hough.

In a brand new promo that was just released, the show hints that Derek, who is the most winningest pro, is returning in some sort of capacity.

“@derekhough is coming BACK to @DancingABC – but what will he be doing?” Good Morning America teased with the short promo, that featured many of his celeb partners.

The news will be revealed next week.

Derek officially left the show ahead of season 24, and also took a season off in 2016.

He’s also spoken about stepping away from the show in the past, telling NKD magazine back in 2017 that “my reason for not returning is when I look at that room, I kind of feel like I’ve done what I can in that room and in that space. I’ve accomplished so much in that space. I feel like I need to move onto a different space.”

If you missed it, Derek recently opened up about hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews not returning for season 29.

You can see which celebs will be part of the season here!

Derek Hough Says He Was 'Shocked' About Tom Bergeron Being Fired From 'Dancing With The Stars'

Derek Hough is opening up about how he reacted upon hearing the news that Tom Bergeron would no longer be hosting Dancing With The Stars when it returns for its 29th season.

“My initial reaction, I guess I was pretty shocked,” the 35-year-old entertainer and former pro dancer on the show shared with SiriusXM’s Bevelations. “Tom Bergeron is such a staple on Dancing With the Stars and he’s a good friend of mine. He’s just a good man.”

Derek continued, “He’s been there since the beginning. He’s just a great guy, [but] you also understand that in the entertainment industry nothing is certain. There’s always those efforts to reinvigorate and switch things up, so you look at that and it’s also understandable.”

He went on, commenting on the news that Tyra Banks was taking over the role of host from Tom and also Erin Andrews.

“You know, Tyra Banks, I’ve come in contact with her several times and I think she’s fantastic,” he shared. “I thought she was a fantastic host on America’s Got Talent. I thought she did an amazing job.”

Derek is the pro with the most wins from the show, with a total of six mirrored ball trophies. His most recent win was with Bindi Irwin in season 21. He left the show after season 23.

More information about when the season will start production was just revealed, too.
