Jameela Jamil Says White Men Keep Confusing Her For Jemele Hill: 'This Is Ignorance'

The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil is speaking out about a pattern she has noticed on her Twitter account – she keeps being confused for sports journalist Jemele Hill by white men.

“I keep being confused with (lovely) @jemelehill by (so far exclusively) white men. We do not look alike. And we don’t have an especially similar name. They will read an article with her full name on it, and her (beautiful) picture, and then still tweet me 👈🏽 This is IGNORANCE,” she wrote on her Twitter account.

A fan then wrote back to her, “An underlying way to undermine people. When I didn’t like someone I used to pretend to forget their name rather than say someone else’s name,” to which Jameela responded, “No they are too stupid. They literally only send it to me.”

Jemele worked for ESPN for years and was famously suspended by the network for speaking out about Colin Kaepernick‘s kneeling and Donald Trump. Trump actually has publicly tweeted about her as well. Jemele now writes for The Atlantic.

Jameela Jamil Slams Repeated Claims She Was Responsible for Caroline Flack's Death Months After DMs Surface

Jameela Jamil is addressing the months of hate she has received after Love Island host Caroline Flack died by suicide back in February 2020.

A lot of the hate Jameela has received was due to Piers Morgan releasing private DMs between himself and Caroline that referenced Jameela. You can read that DM right here.

On Tuesday (June 30), Jameela posted a hateful message she received from a troll referencing Caroline and she posted it, responding, “I get messages like this every day because @piersmorgan implied that I was responsible for Caroline’s death just because she and I had a Mild disagreement about her TV shows, where I wasn’t actually criticizing her, 8 months before she passed. The media killed her, not me.”

Jameela further explained, “She reached out to me a few days before she died because she was sad to see how much hate I was getting from the media, (which massively was coming from Morgan at the time) and then she passed a few days later. He then used a dead woman’s message out of context to harass me.”

Jameela Jamil Calls Out 'Deluded' Kim Kardashian's 'Damaging & Disappointing' Corset Post

Jameela Jamil is addressing Kim Kardashian‘s recent post wearing a corset.

In the original post, the 39-year-old Keeping Up With The Kardashians star showed off her smaller-than-ever waist in a Mr. Pearl corset.

The 34-year-old Legendary judge reacted in a post on Wednesday (June 24).

“I’ve received over 1000 DMs asking me to address this. The reason I didn’t jump on it immediately isn’t because I don’t think the post was damaging and disappointing. I do. It’s because the fact that you’re all messaging me about it, shows my work is done. I havent been trying to cancel Kim K. I was always trying to arm YOU with the knowledge to recognize for YOURSELVES that this is a bulls–t expectation of women, developed by the patriarchy. If YOU know that it’s problematic, reductive and irresponsible for her to perpetuate such a heavily impossible beauty standard to her impressionable fans… then you’re empowered and conscious and don’t need me,” she wrote.

Kim, like many of us, has had decades of body image issues and obsession. This has been HEAVILY perpetuated by how much the media scrutinized her and her sisters over their appearances. She isn’t actively trying to harm you. She’s just so harmed and deluded into thinking this is what SHE needs to look like to be special and beautiful and she’s spilling it out onto her following. Is this wrong? YES. But I’m not sure she realizes that she’s doing to others what her idols did to her, in making her think a tiny waist is the key to femininity and sex appeal. We grew up in the era of Heroin Chic, where we were told you HAD to look like an addict starving to death, so to go from that..to being bullied about your body by the world? This toxicity from someone who is smart and knows better, is a sign that this is harm she can’t stop doing,” she continued.

So there’s no point in screaming at her. The smart thing to do is to protect YOURSELF. YOU have the power. YOU control every Market. YOU choose what and who is trendy. Unfollow the people who tell you things that hurt your self esteem. Don’t let the debris of their damage spill out onto you. Unfollow people/brands that don’t make you feel powerful and happy and grateful for what you have. You’re the boss and none of them are s–t without you. THE PATRIARCHY WANTS US TO FOCUS ON OUR WEIGHT INSTEAD OF POWER, EQUALITY AND PSYCHOLOGICAL FREEDOM. FUCK ANYONE WHO ENCOURAGES THIS. BLOCK. MUTE. DELETE. REPEAT. Follow activists, writers, artists and comedians instead❤️”

Jameela Jamil Asks Why People Are Coming After Just Her For Posting Louis Farrakan's Speech When Notable White Women Did Too

Jameela Jamil is taking accountability for her posts that featured Louis Farrakan, a well known Anti-Semite minister.

The Good Place star opened up about her mistake in sharing his speech about white fear on Instagram. Of course, she also wasn’t the only one to share it, as several other celebrities did as well on their own feeds.

The video in question showed Farrakan during an appearance on The Phil Donahue Show where he answered a question to why “white people, black people, Jewish people” can’t “come together.”

“I’m all up for accountability, and even acknowledged this entirely innocent incident on Instagram. But this bloodthirst to use my name for clicks is getting beyond absurd,” Jameela shared in a tweet this aftenroon. “Before you call me a ‘moron’ for not knowing him. Do you know every single historical figure of MY culture?”

She went on, “The screen grab of the Instagram that was up for a few minutes CLEARLY states I didn’t know who he was. So I wasn’t knowingly praising an anti Semite.”

“But the white women who knowingly praised him aren’t in your tweets. Just the brown one who was simply asking who he is. Curious,” Jameela added. “PS. THE white women who knowingly posted him are much more famous and established than me. Award winners and household names. So again. I ask you.. why me?”

Jameela just recently had to defend herself again after having this celebrity on her podcast.

Demi Lovato Opens Up About Cancel Culture: 'Where Is the Forgiveness Culture?'

Demi Lovato is opening up about cancel culture.

The 27-year-old “I Love Me” singer spoke out in an interview with Jameela Jamil on her I Weigh podcast.

PHOTOS: Check out the latest pics of Demi Lovato

“I’ve been canceled so many times, I can’t even count…the hashtag #DemiIsOverParty, that whole thing. It just doesn’t even affect me anymore. One, it’s not real. I don’t think anyone was ever officially canceled, otherwise certain people wouldn’t have Grammys, wouldn’t have Oscars, certain people would be where they are in their positions,” she said while discussing the subject.

“Where is the forgiveness culture? I do, to a certain degree – there are some people, if you have used up your second and third chances with a certain topic, you’re canceled and you should stay canceled. But if you mess up and you apologize and come forward and say I’ve learned from this, then let that be an example for other people so they can change too,” she went on to say.

“Cancel culture will not work unless people have some sort of mercy. You have to be able to do that. I think if it’s somebody who refuses to learn, just has the entitlement of I can never do any wrong and I can get away with this, then yeah…go ahead and cancel them.”
